    摘要: The present invention relates to improved viscosification agents for an aqueous or brine solutions. Typically, the viscosification agents are tetrapolymers of N-vinyl pyrrolidone/acrylamide/salt of acrylic acid/N-alkyl acrylamide wherein said tetrapolymers have the formula: ##STR1## wherein w is about 1 to about 80 mole percent, more preferably about 5 to about 75 mole percent, and most preferably about 10 to about 70 mole percent; x is about 10 to about 90 mole percent, more preferably about 20 to about 80 mole percent, and most preferably about 30 to about 70 mole percent; and y is about 0.1 to about 10.0 mole percent, more preferably about 0.15 to about 5.0 mole percent; and most preferably about 0.2 to about 3.0 mole percent; z is about 1.0 to about 30.0 mole percent, more preferably about 2.0 to about 25.0 mole percent, and most preferably about 5.0 to about 20.0 mole percent; R is an alkyl group having about 6 to about 30 carbon atoms, more preferably about 7 to about 20, and most preferably about 8 to about 18; and M is a cation selected from the group consisting of monovalent cations, preferably Na.sup.+, K.sup.+ or R.sub.4 N.sup.+.

    摘要: This invention relates to a polymer composition comprising a blend comprising: (a) greater than 30 wt (based upon the weight of the composition) of a cyclic olefin polymer having a Tg greater than 60° C. and having a Tm heat of fusion (ΔHf) of 40 J/g or less selected from the group consisting of: i) copolymers comprising at least one acyclic olefin and at least 15 mole % of one or more cyclic olefins; ii) partially or completely hydrogenated copolymers comprising at least one acyclic olefin and at least 15 mole % of one or more cyclic olefins; iii) metathesis copolymers comprising two or more cyclic olefins; iv) partially or completely hydrogenated metathesis copolymers comprising two or more cyclic olefins; v) metathesis homopolymers comprising cyclic olefins; vi) partially or completely hydrogenated metathesis homopolymers comprising cyclic olefins; and vii) mixtures thereof; (b) from 1 to 50 wt % (based upon the weight of the composition) of an acyclic olefin polymer modifier having a glass transition temperature of less than 0° C.; (c) from 0.1 to 50 wt % (based upon the weight of the composition) of a non-functionalized plasticizer having a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. of 3 to 3000 cSt, a viscosity index of 120 or more, a pour point of 0° C. or less and a flash point of 200° C. or more.

    摘要: Provided are compositions, processes for making, and processes for using triglycerides as plasticizers. Triglyceride plasticizers can be produced by recovery of linear or branched C4 to C10 aldehydes from a hydroformylation product, oxidation to the acid with oxygen and/or air, recovery of the resulting acid, and esterification with glycerol, wherein the total carbon number of the triester groups is from 20 to 25 for greater than or equal to 45 wt % of the plasticizer. Such plasticizers can be phthalate-free and provide outstanding properties including a suitable melting or glass transition or pour point, low volatility, increased compatibility, and excellent low temperature properties in a range of polymeric resins.

Unit A represents —CH2—, unit B represents and unit D represents where R1 represents a polar functional group.     摘要: Provided are selected types of terpolymer components comprising terpolymers having monomer units derived from ethylene (E), dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) and norbornene-based (NB) co-monomers. Such terpolymer components have certain specified amounts of each co-monomer as well as certain specified molecular weight and glass transition temperature characteristics. Terpolymer components which are derivatized by hydrogenation and/or by epoxidation and/or hydroxylation are also disclosed, as well as thermoplastic polyolefin compositions which contain the terpolymer components and which have especially desirable structural and thermal properties.Also provided are processes for preparing and derivatizing the terpolymer components herein. Such preparation processes comprise: a) contacting ethylene with a polymerization mixture comprising selected amounts of both DCPD and NB co-monomers, in the presence of a selected activated cyclopentadienyl-fluorenyl metallocene catalyst under specific polymerization conditions to thereby form the desired ethylene-dicyclopentadiene-norbornene terpolymer components within the polymerization mixture. These terpolymer components can then be subsequently derivatized by hydrogenation or functionalization of the residual double bonds therein.
