Abstract:
A method for impregnating a shaped ceramic material with an impregnation liquid, comprising the steps of placing the shaped ceramic material in the impregnation liquid, and applying an impregnation pressure to the impregnation liquid through a pressure transfer liquid so that the shaped ceramic material is impregnated with the impregnation liquid.
Abstract:
An optical character reader apparatus is provided to optically read characters written on a document card to extract as a word a character group compared with previously registered words. Such a word is compared for each character constituting that word. When the number of constituent characters constituting the extracted word is greater than a prescribed number, a judgement is made as to whether or not each constituent character is a vowel, and, if so, is removed and, if otherwise, subsequently compared with respect to characters other than vowels. As a result, a word which is found to have the largest number of coincident characters to previously registered words, is selected as a candidate word and delivered as the word read from the document card.
Abstract:
A photodetector comprising a photocell assembly including a substrate and at least one photocell formed on the substrate and having a light receiving face. The photocell assembly is completely embedded in a transparent resin molded body which has a light receiving surface defined therein so as to permit an incoming light incident thereupon to travel direct to the light receiving face of the photocell. The light receiving surface is roughened, recessed, raised, or inclined.
Abstract:
A novel method for producing a high-strength inorganic cement article is provided. The method comprises kneading under high shearing force a cement mixture containing as essential components hydraulic cement, a hydrophilic organic binder and water, molding the kneaded mixture into an article having a water-to-solid weight ratio of not more than about 0.2, preliminarily hydrating the molded article, firing the preliminarily hydrated article at about 300.degree. to about 1000.degree. C., and then rehydrating the fired article. The resulting cement article has bending strength of not lower than about 200 kgf/sq.cm without fibrous reinforcing materials and has that of not lower than about 350 kgf/sq.cm when reinforced with heat-resistant fiber materials. The cement article can be advantageously glazed in the above mentioned method by applying a glazing agent to a desired surface of the preliminarily hydrated article and then firing the article.
Abstract:
A stylus grinding device for use in a video disc player comprises a rotary grinding disc adapted to be rotated at its center during a grinding operation subject to the pickup stylus. The stylus grinding device is designed such that the amount of the pickup stylus to be ground varies depending upon the duration of actual service performed by the pickup stylus to reproduce video information recorded on a flexible foil-type disc record.
Abstract:
An average fault ratio is calculated from product characteristics of a product as a target of yield prediction, in order to predict yield accurately in the course of manufacturing the prediction target product. With respect to a reference product, whose wiring pattern is different from the prediction target product but manufactured by the same manufacturing process, a monthly electric fault density is calculated from actually measured data. Respective average fault ratios are obtained from product characteristics of the prediction target product and the reference product. A monthly electric fault density of the prediction target product is obtained by multiplying the monthly electric fault density of the reference product by the ratio of the average fault ratios. The yield is calculated by using the monthly electric fault density of the month in which a yield prediction target lot of the prediction target product was processed.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a plate brick having a low amount of generation of smoke and a gas with a pungent odor during use, and exhibiting high durability. A plate brick of the present invention is obtained by: adding an organic binder to a refractory raw material mixture containing 0.5 to 20 mass % of aluminum and/or aluminum alloy; kneading the mixture with the organic binder; forming the kneaded mixture into a shaped body; and subjecting the shaped body to a heat treatment at a temperature of 400 to 1000° C., wherein the plate brick is obtained without being impregnated with a carbon-containing liquid material comprising tar or pitch, after the heat treatment. The plate brick has a compressive strength of 180 MPa or more, and a weight-increasing rate of 1% or less as measured in a hydration test using an autoclave.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a grid interconnection device that converts electric power from a power supply device into predetermined alternating-current power, and interconnects the power supply device to a power distribution system. The grid interconnection device includes a detector that detects islanding of the power supply device, and a receiver that receives power failure information including local area information indicative of an area in which a power failure occurs, through a predetermined transmission path. The detector enhances detection sensitivity for the islanding when the received power failure information includes the local area information indicative of a different area from the area to which the power distribution system belongs.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses only required personal information in an emergency. A personal information display screen displays a face image display area 141, a passenger position display area 142, an interior image display area 143, a front image display area 144, a rear image display area 145, a personal information display area 146, and a display end button 147. For example, when an accident occurs and a rescue team arrives at the scene of the accident, a display section of an on-vehicle apparatus displays not only passengers' face images but also required information such as their names, addresses, and blood types which is permitted to be disclosed. This enables emergencies to be dealt with both promptly and correctly even if such a serious accident as causes all the passengers to lose consciousness occurs. The present invention is applicable to the on-vehicle apparatus.
