摘要: According to the optical information recording and reproducing apparatus of the present invention, in an optical information recording and reproducing apparatus for recording and/or reproducing information while performing a relative reciprocating movement between a recording and/or reproducing head and an optical information recording medium having information tracks, plural spots including a spot having the function of recording and/or reproducing information formed on said recording medium by said head are arranged so as to be located on the same information track in said recording medium. Further, by switching the functions which at least two spots have during forward movement and during backward movement of said relative movement, it is possible to arrange the spots having roles in accordance with the recording and reproducing apparatus and have them function in a predetermined order. Thus, the present invention has an effect that a stable and correct recording and/or reproduction of information with high speed becomes possible.

摘要: An optical pickup device in which, e.g., a semiconductor laser is used as a light source and light fluxes from the light source are irradiated onto an optical information recording medium, thereby performing either one of or both recording and reproduction of information into and from the recording medium is provided. The device includes: a light source to generate a light beam which is irradiated to the optical recording medium; a polarizing or non-polarizing beam splitter, arranged on the optical path from the light source to the recording medium and consisting of prisms, for transmitting the light beam from the light source and leading to the recording medium, and for separating the light reflected by the recording medium from the light beam from the light source; and photodetectors, arranged almost rectilinearly, for receiving the reflected light from the recording medium which is separated by the beam splitter, wherein among the planes of the beam splitter, the plane opposite to the plane which faces the direction of the photodetectors has a shape adapted to lead the light beam reflected by this plane to the direction which is almost perpendicular to the arrangement direction of the photodetectors. With this apparatus, the signals can be detected with a high S/N ratio.

摘要: An impurity detector atomizes a liquid sample by injecting the sample into a chamber with a gas. In the chamber the liquid is heated, preferably by heating the gas prior to injection, to cause all the liquid to evaporate. The solid impurities contained in the liquid are thus entrained in the gas and carried to a detector region. The chamber is arranged so that all the gas and all the particles arrive at the detector region. A particle detector measures the number and size of the particles and from that measurement, the concentration of impurities in the sample can be determined. The system permits on-line operation, and produces accurate results.

摘要: An electronic instrument includes an input device having a plurality of channels to each of which an audio signal is input. A demodulation device demodulates audio signals and converts the audio signals into digital signals that control the electronic instrument. The electronic instrument also includes a feeding device that feeds the digital signals to a sound source and a detection device that detects whether or not the audio signals in any of the plurality of channels are modulated by the digital signals. A controller controls the demodulation device, in cases where it has been detected that any of the audio signals are modulated by the digital signals, so as to demodulate the digital signals from the audio signals that have been input to the channels, such that another channel's audio signals that are not modulated by the digital signals are output to an audio output.

摘要: When an image scanner scans an image recorded on an advanced photo system™ film, it determines spectral transmittance of a portion of the film, which is not exposed but developed, then sets parameters, such as masking parameters and &ggr; correction parameters, to be used in image signal processes on the basis of the spectral characteristics. Thereafter, the image is read by a CCD and image data is outputted. The film scanner applies the image signal processes to the image data using the parameters set in accordance with the spectral transmittance.

摘要: Embodiments of the present invention comprise an electronic system by which it is possible to have an accompaniment that automatically tracks the performance tempo of a performer. The system is equipped with a ROM in which a sequence of performance data that comprise a main performance composition that is to be performed by the performer is stored. The system receives input from the performer, for example, keystrokes of a keyboard, and the relative performance tempo of the performance by the performer is calculated with respect to a segment of the performance. An accompaniment is then generated by the system by comparing the detected tempo of the performance of the artist with the tempo of the reference performance that is stored in ROM. By knowing the difference in tempo between the reference piece stored in ROM and the piece as being performed by the performer, the system may then adjust the tempo of the accompaniment to match the tempo of the performance by the artist.
