摘要: According to some embodiments, time domain reflectometry based transmitter equalization is provided. For example, a reflection detector in a transmitter may detect a reflection signal associated with a calibration signal that was transmitted via an interconnect. The reflection detector may then provide filter information to a transmitting unit to facilitate a transmission of data to a remote receiver via the interconnect. According to some embodiments, the receiver adjusts a termination impedance before the calibration signal is transmitted.

摘要: A tracking data receiver which can compensate for deterministic jitter is disclosed. The device utilizes a history of past data received to determine which of multiple samples taken within a bit period to utilize. Due to deterministic jitter that can occur in data signal communication, the delay of waveform development varies with the ratio of 0's to 1's transmitted prior to the bit period being observed. The present invention exploits the predictable nature of the deterministic jitter to decide which sample to choose.

摘要: An error detection technique uses a cumulative error detecting code (such as a cumulative CRC checksum or the like). At the source node (transmitter side) an error detecting code of a previous cell is stored. The next cell to be transmitted is received and the error detecting code of the previous cell is appended to the next cell. A next error detecting code is calculated as a function of at least a portion of the next cell to be transmitted and the previous error detecting code appended thereto. The previous error detecting code appended to the next cell is replaced with the next error detecting code, and the next cell including the next error detecting code appended thereto is transmitted. In this manner, the cumulative error detecting code is calculated over the current cell and a previous error detecting code. Thus, the cumulative error detecting code can be used to detect bit errors in each individual cell as well as to detect one or more missing or dropped cells.

摘要: A method for transmitting data in a network from a source node to a destination node via a path of links includes the steps of transmitting data packets from the source node to an intermediary point. Once a particular packet is successfully received at an intermediary point, the particular packet is de-allocated at the source node, as are any other packets in the buffer between the particular packet and the last acknowledged packet. Upon receipt of an error indication, each packet is retransmitted along with all subsequent packets. After a predetermined number of attempts of successfully transmitting the data has expired, it is determined that the link between one intermediary point and another intermediary point or one intermediary point and the destination node has failed. The packets are returned to the source node and a verification packet is sent across the path of links to verify the at least one link has failed. Upon verification that at least one link has failed, an alternate path of links for transmitting the packets from the source node to the destination node is established.

摘要: A distributed computer system includes a host CPU, a network/host bridge, a network/I/O bridge and one or more I/O devices. The host CPU can generate a locked host transaction, which is wrapped in a packet and transmitted over a network to the remote I/O device for replay. The remote I/O devices can generate interrupts. The interrupt is wrapped in a packet and transmitted to the host computer for replay as an interrupt. The host CPU then executes the appropriate interrupt service routine to process the interrupt routine. The remote location of the I/O device with respect to the host CPU is transparent to the CPU and I/O devices. The bridges perform wrapping and unwrapping of host and I/O transactions for transmission across a network.
