摘要: A guide detection type rotary encoder has first through fourth transmission windings, first through fourth reception windings, and first through fourth flux coupling bodies. The first and second transmission windings, the first and second reception windings, and first and second flux coupling bodies each form first and second angle detection tracks which generate an N1 time and N2 time cyclic change at one rotation of the first rotor. The third and fourth transmission windings, the third and fourth reception windings, and third and fourth flux coupling bodies each form third and fourth angle detection tracks which generate an N3 time and N4 time cyclic change at one rotation of the second rotor. N1 and N2 are different, and N3 time and N4 are different.

摘要: A measuring instrument includes a main body, a stylus configured to be movable in relation to the main body, an encoder for detecting the amount of displacement of the stylus relative to the main body, a calculating section for calculating a measurement value from the amount of displacement detected by the encoder, a display section for displaying the measurement value calculated by the calculating section, an operation section for issuing a command to the calculating section, and a storage section that stores an effective measurement range larger than a lower limit and smaller than an upper limit of the movement stroke of the stylus. The calculating section makes a determination as to whether or not the amount of displacement detected by the encoder falls within the effective measurement range stored in the storage section and displays the result of such a determination on the display section.

摘要: A method for manufacturing a liquid-ejection head having a plurality of nozzles arranged to eject liquid includes: preparing a substrate having a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer stacked in this order, the second layer more resistant than the third layer to etching by an etching method to be used on the third layer; partially etching the third layer by the etching method to expose the second layer; and removing the exposed second layer at least in part to expose some area on the top surface of the first layer, opening a first one of the nozzles down from the exposed area of the top surface, and opening a second one of the nozzles down from the top surface of the third layer.

摘要: A user enters a numeric string on a standby screen of a cellular telephone (1), and then presses a predetermined function key, the numeric string being obtained by numerical conversion of a keyword related to a piece of registration information, e.g. a destination e-mail address, in accordance with an assignment relationship between characters and numerical keys. In the cellular telephone having recognized the entry of the numeric string and the pressing of the predetermined function key, a database is searched by using as a key the entered numeric string or a character string obtained by character conversion of the entered numeric string in accordance with the above-mentioned assignment relationship, and e-mail destination candidates associated with the numeric string or the character string are extracted and displayed on a display. The user selects a desired destination from among the candidates, whereby an e-mail destination address is selected and called up.
