Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a user equipment (UE) dynamically adjusting a non-access stratum (NAS) timer. Specifically, the UE may determine operation in a wideband and support of an extended coverage (EC) restriction. The UE may further identify a duration of a non-access stratum (NAS) timer based on determining operation in the wideband and the EC restriction. The UE may further transmit an access request message to a network entity to trigger a mobility management procedure. The UE may further receive an acceptance message from the network entity indicating an unrestricted or restricted status of the EC restriction. The UE may further apply the duration to the NAS timer based on the acceptance message indicating the unrestricted or restricted status of the EC restriction received from the network entity or a history of EC restrictions of a public land mobile network (PLMN) in a defined geographic area.

Abstract: Enabling Ethernet Header Compression (EHC) for use with data sent within a Non-Access Stratum (NAS) control plane of a wireless communication network. In one aspect, a wireless communication device sends a signal to a wireless communication network indicating the device supports EHC for data transfer over a control plane. The device obtains a response from the wireless communication network indicating the wireless communication network supports EHC for data transfer over the control plane. The device then sends an Ethernet packet compressed using EHC to the wireless communication network over the control plane. The wireless communication device may be configured to send a request to the wireless communication network to use EHC before sending the Ethernet packet compressed using EHC. The device then sends the compressed Ethernet packet only if the request is granted. In another aspects, complementary EHC features are provided within a network component of the wireless communication network.

Abstract: A configuration for dynamically updating the neighbor list sent to a UE based on the location of the UE and the location of one or more mobile relays. The apparatus receives first location information for one or more UEs. The apparatus receives second location information for one or more mobile relays. The apparatus determines a distance between the one or more UEs and each of the one or more mobile relays. The apparatus sends assistance information to at least one of the one or more UEs in an area, the assistance information identifying at least one mobile relay of the one or more mobile relays based on the determined distance between the one or more UEs and the at least one mobile relay.

Abstract: A mobile relay generates a synchronization signal/physical broadcast channel block (SSB) for the mobile relay using at least one of a primary synchronization signal (PSS) for mobile relays that is different than a stationary base station PSS, a secondary synchronization signal (SSS) for mobile relays that is different than a stationary base station SSS, a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) that is different than a stationary base station PBCH, or a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) associated with the PBCH that is different than a stationary base station DMRS. After generating the SSB, the mobile relay broadcasts the SSB. A UE receiving the SSB determines that the SSB is from a mobile relay based, at least in part, on information comprised in the SSB.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication that over come problems associated with conventional approaches including load balancing and handover efficiency issues. In one aspect a wireless communication technique takes into account the load of a donor gNB before a relay decides to reselect from one donor gNB to another. In another aspect, a wireless communication technique ensures that relays are handed over to base stations that will be able to serve the relay as the mobile relay continues to follow its expected path (e.g. streets or tracks).

Abstract: Aspects directed towards steering of roaming (SoR) are disclosed. In one example, a communication from a public land mobile network (PLMN) is received by a user equipment (UE) in which the communication indicates an acceptance of a UE registration with the PLMN. This example further includes performing a determination of whether an SoR indicator associated with a home PLMN (HPLMN) is embedded within the communication. The UE then manages PLMN selection according to the determination. In another example, a UE is configured to operate according to an SoR configuration in which the UE is configured to ascertain whether an SoR indicator is embedded within a communication from a PLMN. An SoR indicator associated with an HPLMN is then generated and subsequently transmitted from the HPLMN to the UE via the PLMN.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. An access and mobility management function (AMF) proxy may establish communication links with a RAN and a first AMF of a first network operator, and with a second AMF of a second network operator. The AMF proxy may receive a first message from the RAN, the first AMF, or the second AMF, the message indicating a manipulated or unmanipulated AMF user equipment (UE) identifier (ID) and a manipulated or unmanipulated RAN UE ID. The AMF proxy may perform ID manipulation the UE IDs in the first message based on a first mapping between the manipulated and unmanipulated AMF UE ID and a second mapping between the manipulated and unmanipulated RAN UE ID. The AMF proxy may transmit a second message to the first AMF, the second AMF, or the RAN based on the AMF UE ID or the RAN UE ID.
