    Abstract: Provided are projectors, each including a light source configured to emit laser light, a substrate spaced apart from the light source, a pattern mask including a pattern disposed on a first surface of the substrate, the first surface facing the light source, and a meta-lens including a plurality of first nanostructures formed on a second surface of the substrate, the second surface opposite the first surface, the nanostructures having a dimension of a sub-wavelength that is less than a wavelength of light emitted from the light source.

    Abstract: Provided are meta-surface optical device and methods of manufacturing the same. The meta-surface optical device may include a meta-surface arranged on a region of a substrate and a light control member arranged around the meta-surface. The light control member may be arranged on or below the substrate. A material layer formed of the same material used to form the meta-surface may be disposed between the light control member and the substrate. Also, the meta-surface may be a first meta-surface arranged on an upper surface of the substrate, and a second meta-surface may be arranged on a bottom surface of the substrate. Also, the meta-surface may include a first meta-surface and at least one second meta-surface may formed on the first meta-surface, and the light control member may be arranged around the at least one second meta-surface.

    Abstract: A meta projector is provided, including an edge emitting device configured to emit light through a side surface thereof, a meta-structure layer spaced apart from the upper surface of the edge emitting device that includes a plurality of nanostructures having a sub-wavelength dimension smaller than a wavelength of the light emitted from the edge emitting device, and a path changing member configured to change a path of the light emitted from the edge emitting device so as to direct the path toward the meta-structure layer. The meta projector may thus be configured to emit a light pattern of structured light, based on directing the light emitted from the edge emitting device through the meta-structure layer.

    Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed for a structured-light system to estimate depth in an image. An image is received in which the image is of a scene onto which a reference light pattern has been projected. The projection of the reference light pattern includes a predetermined number of particular sub-patterns. A patch of the received image and a sub-pattern of the reference light pattern are matched based on either a hardcode template matching technique or a probability that the patch corresponds to the sub-pattern. If a lookup table is used, the table may be a probability matrix, may contain precomputed correlations scores or may contain precomputed class IDs. An estimate of depth of the patch is determined based on a disparity between the patch and the sub-pattern.

    Abstract: A meta-lens, an imaging optics, and an electronic device including the imaging optics are provided. The meta-lens includes at least one meta-layer having a plurality of nanostructures with a less shape dimension than an operating wavelength, modulates a phase and intensity of incident light, and forms a plurality of spots of different brightness on an imaging plane in an asymmetric distribution. The plurality of spots formed on the imaging plane include a main spot and at least one sub-spot that is separated from a center of the main spot and has lower illuminance than the main spot.
