Abstract:
An improved nebulizer places a venturi in close proximity to or inside a patient's oral cavity. One or more medicine feed lines feeds the medicine to a location proximate to a venturi. A plurality of medicines may be administered simultaneously to the patient, with preferably each medicine vial being shape-keyed to a medicine receiver of corresponding shape. The medicine vial or vials may contain a standard unit dose of medication. A portable gas canister can be utilized to supply air pressure to the venturi when a press open release closed type valve is actuated.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for evaluating a patient's laryngeal cough reflex function includes a nebulizer capable of being actuated to atomize a cough-inducing substance, a switch associated with the nebulizer, the switch responsive to actuation of the nebulizer, and a connection between the switch and an EMG machine to thereby activate the EMG machine responsive to the switch. Elapsed time between switch actuation and electrical activity sensed in a muscle which contracts to produce a cough is indicative of status of the patient's laryngeal cough reflex.
Abstract:
A needle stick protection device includes a housing and a locking member positioned within the housing to permit the selective locking and releasing of the needle relative to the housing. The device further includes a self-locking member cooperating with an opening in the housing to permanently secure the tip of the needle for disposal. The self-locking member is longitudinal in shape and includes a plurality if spring biased locking tabs along the length thereof. The spring biased locking tabs extend outwardly from the longitudinal axis of the self-locking member; wherein the locking tabs engage inner wall surfaces of the housing in a locked position preventing removal of the self-locking member from the housing and securing the needle tip permanently within the housing.
Abstract:
A needle stick protection device includes a housing shaped and dimensioned for positioning about a needle. The housing includes a first housing member telescopically coupled to a second housing member. The first housing member includes an open first end and an open second end. The second housing member includes an open first end and a substantially closed second end, the second end including an aperture shaped and dimensioned to permit the passage of a needle therethrough. The device also includes a mechanism for locking the first housing member relative to the second housing member wherein the second housing member moves relative to the first housing member to facilitate retraction and extension of the needle through the aperture at the second end of the second housing member. The second housing member is biased relative to the first housing member in a manner forcing the first end of the second housing member away from the first end of the first housing member to maintain the second housing member in a cover position in which the needle is fully contained within the housing.
Abstract:
An ultra-filtration membrane assembly having an exterior housing having a housing; an ultra-filtration membrane provided within the housing, the ultra-filtration membrane being having a plurality of elongated filtration fibers arranged in a spiraled coil; and one or more filaments woven around the plurality of elongated filtration fibers thus binding each of the one or more adjacent elongated filtration fibers at a predetermined axial spacing from one another.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a self adhesive ink jet printable polymer film. The film comprises a polymeric resin and a low surface energy additive that is in a substantially free form. The polymeric resin can be PVC, and the low surface energy additive can be silicone. The film comprising the low surface energy additive exhibits high print resolution and substantially uniform printing quality even after the print surface of the film has been in contact with a back surface of a release liner comprising residual silicone.
Abstract:
An air cleaner for a motor vehicle includes a housing having an air inlet opening, an air outlet opening, a secondary air inlet opening and at least one peripheral wall defining a chamber therein. An air filter element is provided and received into the chamber and positioned to separate the air inlet opening from the air outlet opening. A vacuum actuated valve is provided in the secondary air inlet opening of the housing and is in communication with a secondary air portion of a dirty face of the filter element. The valve configured and adapted to automatically change from a closed to an open state when a vacuum in the housing increases to a predetermined vacuum value and then to close when the vacuum decreases below the predetermined value, thereby permitting the vehicle engine to continue to operate even though airflow in the primary air intake may be obstructed.

Abstract:
Methods, apparati, and computer-readable media for securely transporting a software application onto a tamper resistant module (TRM) (103) by using an individualized TRM key set. A method embodiment of the present invention comprises: storing a key pair unique to the TRM (103) in a memory located on the TRM (103), where the key pair comprises a TRM public key (150) and a TRM private key (190); retrieving the TRM public key from the TRM; encrypting a portion of the software application using the TRM public key (150); transmitting the encrypted software application to the TRM (103); and recovering and decrypting the encrypted software application using the TRM private key(190).
Abstract:
Methods and apparati for securely loading one or more computer software applications onto a tamper resistant module (TRM) (107) and for securely deleting one or more applications from the TRM. An embodiment of the invention comprises a method for determining, based at least upon an encrypted personalization data block, whether a TRM (107) is part of a qualified set of TRM's to accept loading of an application. Thereafter, the method provides for loading the application onto the TRM (107) only after the first step determines that the TRM (107) is qualified to accept the loading of the application. Another embodiment comprises a method for determining, based at least upon an encrypted personalization data block, whether a TRM (107) is part of a qualified set of TRM's to accept deleting of an application. Thereafter, the method provides for deleting the application from the TRM (107) only when the first step determines that the TRM (107) is qualified to accept the deleting of the application.
