Abstract:
Methods of treating fibers comprising a polymer including at least one of a vinyl acetate moiety or a vinyl alcohol moiety, and resulting fibers or the products comprising the resulting fibers are disclosed. In an example embodiment, a fiber having a surface region and an interior region, includes a polymer comprising at least one of a vinyl acetate moiety or a vinyl alcohol moiety chemically modified with a modification agent. The fiber has a transverse cross-section including the interior region comprising the polymer having a first degree of modification and the surface region comprising the polymer having a second degree of modification greater than the first degree of modification.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use of a first water-soluble film and a second water-soluble film to make a unit dose article and the use of said unit dose article.
Abstract:
The disclosure provides a water soluble pouch including at least two sealed compartments, the pouch including outer walls including water soluble film including a water soluble resin, and an inner wall including water soluble film including a water soluble resin, the outer wall films being sealed to the inner wall film, the outer wall films being characterized by: a dissolution time of 300 seconds or less, the water soluble resin of the outer wall films having a viscosity in a range of 14.5 cP to 25 cP, and a pouch strength of at least 200 N, and the inner wall film being characterized by: a dissolution time of 300 seconds or less, the water soluble resin of the inner film having viscosity in a range of 12 cP to 14.5 cP, and a tackiness value of at least 1500 g/s.
Abstract:
A water-soluble film including a polyvinyl alcohol copolymer resin, a plasticizer, an anti-block filler, and a release modifier is disclosed herein. Also disclosed are related packets incorporating the film, and related methods of making and using the film and packets.
Abstract:
A web (8) of cleaning products (10) and a method of manufacturing the same is disclosed. The web includes first (20) and second carrier (30) sheets and a plurality of pouches (50) containing a cleaning composition. Each of the pouches is disposed in a respective depression (26) formed in an upper surface (28) of the first carrier sheet. A first internal atmosphere (80) is enclosed within each of the pouches. The first carrier sheet is sealed to the second carrier sheet such that a second internal atmosphere (82) exists between the second carrier sheet and the plurality of pouches. The second internal atmosphere has a greater absolute pressure (P) than the first internal atmosphere so that the plurality of pouches and at least a portion of the cleaning composition in the plurality of pouches are compressed into the plurality of depressions in the first carrier sheet by the second internal atmosphere.
Abstract:
An edible film useful for applying a flavoring additive to a food item is disclosed. The edible film generally includes an edible carboxymethyl cellulose film-forming resin and an edible plasticizer. The carboxymethyl cellulose film-forming resin is preferably a blend of two different carboxymethyl celluloses having different molecular weights. The edible film preferably includes additional additives, for example an edible surfactant and an edible tackifier. The edible film can suitably accept a food flavoring ingredient to form a flavored film that can be used to apply a flavor to a food item.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a detergent pouch, formed by an enzymaticwater-soluble film, comprising a detergent; wherein the water-soluble film contains enzyme particles.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are fluorescent tracer compositions and water-soluble polymer compositions containing fluorescent compounds for tracing one or more components in the polymer compositions. More particularly, the disclosure relates to fluorescent tracer compositions including a fluorophore and a bitterant aversive component to be incorporated into a water-soluble polymer composition such as a water-soluble film. An aversive compound such as a bitterant is desirably incorporated into the polymer composition as a deterrent to ingestion of the polymer composition (or an article made therefrom). Qualitative or quantitative detection of the fluorophore in the polymer composition can be correlated to a qualitative or quantitative detection of a corresponding traced material in the polymer composition, for example the bitterant aversive component. Related articles and methods for making and using the polymer compositions are also disclosed.
