摘要: A central venous catheter comprises an ultrasound assembly. In one arrangement, the radiating member is used to remove a blockage from the central venous catheter. In another arrangement, inserting an ultrasound assembly into a central venous catheter. The ultrasound assembly comprises an ultrasound radiating member mounted on an elongate support structure. The method further comprises positioning the ultrasound assembly within the central venous catheter such that the ultrasound radiating member is adjacent to a deposited material formed on a portion of the central venous catheter. The method further comprises supplying an electrical current to the ultrasound radiating member to expose the deposited material to ultrasonic energy. The method further comprises passing a therapeutic compound through the central venous catheter to expose the deposited material to the therapeutic compound simultaneously with ultrasonic energy.

The at least one internal channel comprises at least one inlet port and at least one outlet port. The method further comprises providing a cleaning apparatus, and this cleaning apparatus comprises a cleaning fluid, a reservoir containing the cleaning fluid, a transmitter of vibrational energy projecting into the reservoir the transmitter comprising a transmitter tip and a source of vibrational energy coupled to the transmitter, with the vibrational energy comprising a frequency and a wavelength. The reservoir of the provided apparatus comprises an interface adapted to accommodate attachment of the reservoir to the article, and this interface comprises an orifice to allow fluid communication between the reservoir and the at least one internal channel of the article. The method further comprises attaching the article to the apparatus at the interface.

摘要: A method and apparatus for desorbing processing liquid from a processing liquid delivery line is provided. Non-thermal energy, such as ultrasonic energy or electromagnetic energy, is applied to a processing liquid delivery line. The non-thermal energy may be applied directly to the processing liquid delivery line, or may be applied indirectly via a conducting medium which distributes the energy along the length of the processing liquid delivery line. When non-thermal energy in the form of electromagnetic energy is employed, the frequency of the electromagnetic energy is adjusted to match the vibrational frequency of the absorbed molecules of processing liquid.

摘要: Cryogenic process and apparatus for removing adherent coatings or linings from metallic substrates, especially the interiors of metal vessels or pipes. In one embodiment, a metal vessel having a polymeric interior lining is pressurized to about 900 psi, and the lining is contacted with a cryogenic liquid, preferably carbon dioxide, while this pressure is maintainted. The pressure is high enough so that the cryogenic liquid does not boil. The lining is then subjected to shock by ultrasound, for example. This causes the lining to break up into small particles and fall off the metal substrate. These particles, suspended in the cryogenic liquid, are removed from the pressure vessel and separated from the cryogenic liquid, which can be reused. In another embodiment, the cryogenic liquid is injected into a pipe having an adherent mineral deposit while maintaining a pressure of about 700 psi. A stream of cryogenic liquid containing suspended mineral particles is removed from the pipe.

摘要: An improved method for cleaning inner surfaces of heat-transfer tubes in a heat-exchanger of a multi-tube type is disclosed, in which each of the heat-transfer tubes on its inlet end is provided with a washing head including a combination of an ejecting nozzle with an ultra-sonic generator, which washing head may eject a high pressure liquid or gas to produce a turbulent flow in the heat-transfer tubes and further generate an ultra-sonic wave against the liquid in the tubes, thereby to achieve efficient release and removal of deposit, such as scales of incrustation and rust, from the inner surfaces of the heat-transfer tubes.
