摘要: A web of heat-sealable material is advanced in overlying relation with a row of filled cups to a sealing station where both the web and a cup dwell momentarily. During the dwell period, a head at the sealing station advances downwardly and successively tamps a disc-like portion of the web downwardly into the upper end portion of the cup, seals the outer periphery of the disc-like portion to and around the upper lip of the cup and then severs the disc-like portion from the web so as to leave the cup sealed with a flexible membrane.

摘要: Apparatus is provided for automatically applying a lid comprised of a film of thermoplastic sheet material to the top of a cup. The film is supplied in a roll and the leading end is fed into a position between the top of the cup and a heat sealing head. In an operating cycle of the apparatus, the cup is brought up against the film and the heat sealing head is brought down on top of the film to seal the film to the cup and sever the forward section of the film from the roll. A film stabilizer is provided on the film feed mechanism for maintaining control of the film and a pneumatic circuit provides an automatic control of the functional components in predetermined timed sequence.

摘要: A heater plate for butt fusion of polyolefin pipe has concentric rings, each with an array of radial bores containing cartridge heaters, and a concentric cavity between the rings to carry wiring from the cartridge heaters. The inner ring components are symmetrical to provide a foundation for uniform surface temperature distribution across the entire area of the inner ring. The outer ring components are coordinated to counterbalance the heat sinks resulting from their asymmetrical configuration so as to increase the likelihood that the uniform surface temperature distribution foundation established for the entire area of the inner ring can be maintained and so that the total diameter of the heater plate, including the outer ring, can be used in fusing pipe.

摘要: Tubing sealers, whether hand held or desk mounted, heat seal liquid filled plastic tubing on command to develop sealed liquid filled easily separable segments serially attached to one another. The sealer generates a source of RF energy to heat seal the plastic tubing on placement of the tubing between a fixed jaw and a tubing compressing moveable ground jaw. The moveable ground jaw serves as a heat sink to dissipate heat and prevents a heat buildup during rapid repetitive operation of the sealer. The configuration of the moveable ground jaw coming in contact with the tubing primarily, but in combination with the degree of compression of the tubing and the RF power applied, controls both the integrity of the seal and the ease with which the sealed segments of tubing can be separated from one another.
