    摘要: A structural unit for forming a building, which structural unit comprises at least three elongate members which are connected to each other to define an area, a covering of a flexible material which is secured to the elongate members and which covers the area defined by the elongate members, and a locking device which connects at least one pair of the elongate members, the locking device being such that it operates with a wedging action whereby tightening of the locking device causes the two elongate members to move with respect to the locking device such that the two elongate members move apart to increase the surface area of the structural unit and thereby tighten the covering of the flexible material.

    摘要: An improved dome-type structure having a plurality of load bearing rib elements extending upwards from a base and meeting at a common vertex, a roof deck extending over and supported by these rib elements and vertical side panels are all disposed so as to form an enclosure. The improvement comprises using components for forming the roof deck which are generally trapezoidal and rectangular in shape. The structure is assembled with the interconnection of the trapezoidal and rectangular-shaped components with and without structural ribs which are of inverted T-shape in cross-section. A water trap is provided at one or more places around the base of the structure, and, in locations where there is a scarcity of water, an underground reservoir is provided beneath the structure. The arrangement provides protection against earthquakes and earth tremors.The invention also contemplates the transportation of a complete shell unit under its own power by air lift.

    摘要: A geodesic dome construction system utilizing a plurality of prefabricated panels having a triangular shape. Each panel includes a core of insulative material, an exterior cementitious face, an interior wall surface face, and edges of the core at an angle with respect to the faces. The exterior face includes an uncovered border portion and a wire mesh extending from the cementitious face into the border portion. The panels are assembled edge-to-edge to form a dome and the joints between panels reinforced with a wire mesh strip. The border portions and exposed wire mesh are covered with cured cementitious material forming a reinforced concrete rib along each joint.

    摘要: An insulated geodesic dome comprising a plurality of closed triangular building construction panels of two kinds wherein the panels of the first kind are smaller than the panels of the second kind, and wherein each panel comprises a triangular frame having outside and inside covers adapted to cover the frame and to provide structural strength and rigidity to the frame. A plurality of spaced apart notches is provided along each edge of each cover. During assembly of a dome, edges of panels are butted together with notches of adjoining panels aligned opposite one another. Adjoining panels are assembled together using metal straps and screws placed in the notches. An angular recess is provided along the bottom outside edge of each frame so that a channel adapted to receive an electrical conductor cable placed therein is formed when any two panels are assembled together. Openings between adjoining panels are sealed against the entrance of moisture by a suitable means such by placing silicone caulk in the crevices between adjoining panels and covering the edges of adjoining panels with a pressure sensitive adhesive backed neoprene foam strip. Each panel is provided with a pair of vapor barriers to seal the inside of the panel against the entrance of moisture and, and each panel is filled with an insulating core comprising a corrugated cardboard grid filled with blown cellulose fiber insulation.

    摘要: A building system formed from a plurality of building panels of triangular shape which are continuously attached on all sides to the earth or other triangular panels thereby defining a rigid panel structure of regular geometric form. Preferably, each panel is formed from two panel sections wherein each section is formed by cutting a stock piece of rigid material, having a known or predetermined length to width dimensional ratio, along its diagonal to form two right triangular panel sections. The dimensions of each triangular panel are equal and in a preferred embodiment, the ratio of the base to the perpendicular height is unity, wherein the panel sections are formed from a stock piece of material having a length to width dimensional ratio of two to one. However, stock material of other dimensional ratios can be used such as two to three and three to four, resulting in a building system utilizing building structures of regular geometric form with varying numbers of triangular panels utilized depending upon the dimensional ratio employed.
