    摘要: A solar panel having an interior insulated heat storage means, a solar radiation collector wall mounted on a first side of the storage means having a collector surface for exposure to solar radiation and a heat emitter wall mounted on a second side of the heat storage means opposite the first side having an emitter surface for exposure to a space to be heated. The panel further includes a collector fluid conducting path for the conduction of collector fluid around an endless loop from a primary portion where there is heat exchanging contact with the collector wall to a secondary portion where there is heat exchanging contact with an emitter fluid in the interior heat storage means. Emitter fluid is contained within an emitter fluid conducting path which moves around an endless loop from a primary portion where there is heat exchanging contact with the collector fluid and the heat storage means to a secondary portion where there is heat exchanging contact with the emitter wall. A heat exchanger panel located within the interior heat storage means has an outer surface in thermally conductive association with the collector fluid in the secondary portion of the collector fluid path and an inner surface in thermally conductive association with the emitter fluid in the primary portion of the emitter path. The collector and the emitter walls each are made of a heat conducting sheet material. The panel construction provides an improved heat collection and transfer efficiency to an interior space to be heated.

    摘要: A method of making a solar collector panel comprises the steps of applying a quantity of solvent to one face of a synthetic foam sheet to form a pattern of solvent stripes on said face, allowing the applied solvent to etch a pattern of grooves having highly irregular surfaces, painting the surfaces of the grooves exposed by the action of the solvent with light-absorbing coloring matter, and securing a light-transmitting cover sheet to the remaining portions of said face. The cover sheet, when secured, conforms to the shape of the face prior to the solvent application step, whereby the grooves and the cover sheet together form channels for the flow of a heat transfer fluid such as water or air.

    摘要: A heat exchanger in which the main component is formed of a plurality of elongated strips of rigid heat conductive material. Each of the strips has a cross-sectional configuration which is elongated in a direction transverse to the elongated extent of the strip so as to provide a pair of spaced relatively thin end edges and a pair of relatively wide opposed surfaces extending between the end edges. The strips are generally transversely aligned and wound into a coil formation in which each of the surfaces of each strip is disposed in facing relation to the opposite surface of an adjacent strip in the coil. Each pair of facing surfaces is ridged to provide defining portions and force transmitting portions with certain of the strips having both end edges thereof sealingly secured to the corresponding end edges of an adjacent strip so as to define with the passage defining portions of the facing surfaces associated therewith a longitudinal fluid passage having a flow direction extending generally in the direction of longitudinal extent of the strips and with certain of the strips having both end edges thereof disposed out of sealing engagement with corresponding end edges of the adjacent strip so as to define with the passage defining portions of the facing surfaces associated therewith transverse fluid passage means having a flow direction extending generally in a direction transverse to the direction of longitudinal extent of the strips. The force transmitting portions of each pair of facing surfaces are disposed in force transmitting relation with respect to one another in the direction the facing surfaces face one another so that forces created by the fluid pressure and temperature conditions within the fluid passages tending to deform the strips in the facing directions are resisted to thereby prevent deformation which would otherwise occur in the absence of the force transmitting relationship and permit the utilization of wall thicknesses less than that required to be self-sustaining in order to prevent such deformation.

    摘要: A solar collector device of the type adapted for heating water and the like. An elongated, opaque collector is provided with a plurality of radially extending vanes so as to define a hollow interior of stellate cross-section. Water is sprayed through a feeding conduit which extends through the hollow interior. As the sprayed water accumulates upon the interior vane surfaces, the collector wheel is rotated according to the weight of the deposited water. As the vane tips are rotated downwardly, the water is heated by conductive contact with the interior vane surfaces and by convection and radiation within the hollow interior. The heated water is then discharged downwardly through apertures in the vane tips into a collector pan. The invention is distinguished from the prior art in its introduction of the water upon the interior surfaces of collector vanes within a paddle wheel of stellate configuration, rather than upon the exterior surfaces of the vanes. The stellate configuration provides an increased area of exposure to the radiation of the sun within a compact unit and provides heating of the water by conduction, convection and radiation.

    摘要: Vehicular tires are generally toroidal heat collection elements of a solar heating system. Liquid or gaseous fluid flow is circulated between the tires and a space to be heated for transferring the heat from the tires to the space. The tires are generally vertically stacked within a thermally insulated enclosure which includes a double glazed window located that solar rays impinge on and heat the tires. Heat storage media such as water, rock or pebble beds, or phase change material in an elongated coiled jacket may be provided within the tires. Downwardly inclined vanes either partially cut from the tire walls or attached to the tires or attached to separators between the tires, provide additional surface area to absorb the solar radiation and to also direct airflow radially inward into the center of the tires. When the vanes are formed by cutting from the tires, they are naturally hinged for elevational angulation and a cable linkage is provided to simultaneously adjust the elevation of the vanes or to close the apertures in the tire walls formed by the cutting out of the vanes. The window is selectively obstructed from light and heat transfer therethrough either by means of a removeable cover or by thermally insulating sliding opaque sheets within the walls of the enclosure which are selectively positionable between the double glazing.
