    摘要: An apparatus and process for producing charcoal in a kiln from hardwood. The kiln is constructed over an array of hardwood logs supported on a suitable platform. Fill material is used to form a surrounding jacket surrounding the hardwood, a sawdust layer is applied over the surrounding jacket, and an airtight layer of clay earth and sand is applied over the sawdust layer. An ignition access port is provided through the several layers to allow ignition and combustion of the hardwood, after which the access port is closed to prevent air from entering the interior of the kiln during burning of the hardwood. After a predetermined burning time, the kiln and its contents are allowed to cool, and the filler, clay earth, sand and any remaining debris are removed from the hardwood. The hardwood is then cooled a second time, and then cooled a third time by stifling the hardwood, such as in a cooling box capped with earth.

    摘要: This invention relates to a two stage coal gasification plant which comprises a gasifier 1 and a predistillation retort 2. The gasifier has a plurality of gas extraction outlets 4 located in the periphery thereof which feed into a manifold 5 from where a percentage of the gas from the gasifier is extracted. Gas from the predistillation retort is extracted through an outlet near the top of the retort. An agitator 8 is provided for agitation of the coal in the agglomeration zone. The agitator is preferably automatically controlled by means of a temperature sensing device 10 located on an arm thereof.

    摘要: Passageways in the walls of the coke oven conduct the partially burned distillation products from the space above the coal charge to the sole heating flues located under the oven floor. The partially burned distillation products are drawn from the sole heating flues to undergo complete combustion as they pass upwardly through an ignition chamber and thence downwardly through a second ignition chamber. A stack with a variable speed fan is used to control the draw on the coke oven and the exhaust to the atmosphere of the combustion product received from the ignition chambers.

    摘要: An apparatus for removing pollutants of all types from a gaseous effluent that is moving in a flow path from the source of the gaseous effluent until the cleaned gaseous effluent is discharged to ambient atmosphere. The apparatus includes a separator in the form of a housing having baffle means therein and spray nozzles oriented in a particular relationship for forming a particular flow path through the separator during which the gaseous effluent is treated by contact with a liquid cleaning solution, such as water, discharged from the spray nozzles. The apparatus also includes a burner assembly communicating with the discharge of the separator for final combustion of any residual burnable material contained in the gaseous effluent prior to discharge into the ambient atmosphere. The apparatus is associated with a charcoal forming kiln having a unique structure and association with the pollutant removing apparatus for more efficiently forming charcoal and effectively removing pollutants from the gaseous effluent from the kiln. In this application, the charcoal kiln has been disclosed to illustrate an effective utility for the pollutant removing apparatus and it is within the purview of this invention to utilize the pollutant removing apparatus with other devices which have a gaseous effluent with pollutants therein.
