    摘要: A containment material for a containment system to provide protection against the diffusion of contaminants in a containment area. A structured felt geotextile surface layer is joined with a geomembrane barrier layer to form a lamination. The geomembrane barrier layer is substantially impervious to liquid diffusion. The structured felt geotextile surface layer comprises a needle-punched, non-woven felt with an upper surface structured to have a surface pattern of peaks and valleys. A containment system is formed from a plurality of strips of containment material joined by liquid-impervious bonds to provide coverage to the containment area. A process for forming a containment material comprises providing a structured felt geotextile layer formed with first and second needling operations to produce a surface pattern and a liquid impervious geomembrane barrier layer and joining the layers to form a lamination.

    摘要: A system and method to create or elevate a berm of a liquid retention facility by placement of lightweight liquid impervious. The system and method can also be used to elevate the liquid retention height of the berm in combination with impervious liner retention material. By constructing the berm system on an existing levee, the effective height of the levee can be increased. The lightweight fill material provides the shape of the berm or levee extension. The liquid impervious liner material provides a watertight surface, the media for joining of the lightweight fill material, and the anchoring of the lightweight fill material to the existing berm or levee structure. The system may use solid wall hollow body structures to elevate the berm. The system may also use lightweight frames to support the vertical elevation of a liner above the berm.

    摘要: A method and a device for laying down and sealingly anchoring a waterproofing liner of a synthetic material, on a surface of a hydraulic work. The liner is fastened by a plurality of tensioning and anchoring assemblies, each including a lower and upper metal section bars configured with a raised part having side flat surfaces for sealingly clamping the liner, wherein the lower section bar has more anchoring holes at a plurality of axially spaced apart anchoring zones; the surface of the hydraulic work is previously marked by reference marks underlining the presence of possible obstacles such as reinforcement rods near the anchoring holes of the anchoring zones of the lower section bar; therefore the lower section bar is positioned by aligning the anchoring holes to the reference marks, anchoring the section bar to the hydraulic work by anchoring devices) at least one hole of the anchoring zones wherein there is no obstacle to the insertion of the anchoring devices in the hydraulic work. The waterproofing liner is laid down on the surface of the hydraulic work, and is sealingly anchored it between the lower section bars and the upper section bars of the tensioning assemblies.

    摘要: A benthic barrier in which a polygonal shaped mat having straight sides is mounted on a similarly polygonal frame, but in which the frame sides bow out slightly between corners, causing the mat to stretch slightly and become taut. The frame comprises a plurality of straight leg members and a number of corner members as required by said polygonal shape. The corner members encompass interior angles which are from about 1 to about 5 degrees greater than the interior angle of the polygon defined by the straight sides of the mat. The frame member legs are rigid, but slightly flexible such that when assembled into the mat as an assembled frame, the straight legs are forced to bow out slightly between the corners, pulling the mat taut.

    摘要: A portable, water-filled barrier system includes a plurality of water-fillable modules, each module being internally divided into cells that emulates a section of a sandbag dike or wall. The modules include a first plurality having a rectangular base shape and at least one wedge module having a triangular or trapezoidal shape. In embodiments, the wedge modules can be installed in a front-forward or front rear-ward orientation according to a desired bending direction of the barrier. Automatic valves can seal openings between the filled cells, so that a punctured cell will not cause cells below and behind to deflate. A manifold can be used to simultaneously fill a plurality of cells. A flexible sheet or a plurality of interlocking sheets can be installed beneath and in front of the assembled barrier so as to protect the barrier from damage and inhibit leakage of water under or between the cells.

    摘要: A shoreline protection and bank stabilization system and method are provided that creates a living shoreline suitable for a variety of soils and wave energy conditions. A combination of recycled plastic matrix layers of geo-synthetic recycled plastic matrix sheets is employed, including matrix sheets that are planted during installation and those that contain pre-grown vegetation. The sheets are secured on a newly constructed or existing levee, earthen berm or earthen terrace. When installed, the system protects and stabilizes banks and shorelines with a variety of soils including loose organics. The system also stabilizes and protects banks and shorelines from a variety of wave energy environments including open water wave action in coastal waters throughout the United States and internationally, but especially in the coastal environment of Louisiana and the Gulf Coast.
