摘要: Aspects of the disclosure generally provide a heat engine system with a working fluid circuit and a method for starting a turbopump disposed in the working fluid circuit. The turbopump has a main pump and may be started and ramped-up using a starter pump arranged in parallel with the main pump of the turbopump. Once the turbopump reaches a self-sustaining speed of operation, a series of valves may be manipulated to deactivate the starter pump and direct additional working fluid to a power turbine for generating electrical power.

摘要: A method for flexibly operating a nuclear power plant with a waste heat steam generator that operates according to the forced-flow principle and that has heating surfaces of different stages of the waste heat steam generator, the heating surfaces being arranged in the flue gas channel, is provided. In order to increase the output, a mass flow of the feedwater flowing through the heating surfaces is increased while almost simultaneously activating a supplementary firing arranged in the flue gas channel of the waste heat steam generator.

摘要: An oil recovery process entails recovering an oil-water mixture from an oil bearing formation and separating the oil-water mixture to produce an oil product and produced water. The produced water includes suspended and dissolved solids and is subjected to treatment which removes suspended and dissolved solids therefrom. The treated water is then directed to a forced circulation steam generator that includes a furnace having a burner, water cooled walls and an evaporator unit. The treated water is pumped through the water cooled walls and the evaporator unit. The water passing through the water cooled walls and evaporator unit are heated to produce approximately 10% to approximately 30% quality steam in both the water cooled walls and the evaporator unit. The steam is collected and separated from a water-steam mixture to produce high quality steam, on the order of 95% or greater quality steam. This steam constitutes injection steam which is injected into an injection well to facilitate the recovery of the oil-water mixture.

摘要: A boiler assembly including primary and secondary combustion chambers includes primary and secondary air controls for controlling combustion air to the chambers respectively. The air controls are operable between open positions to allow combustion in the chambers and a closed position in which the combustion air passages are fully sealed to fully interrupt combustion responsive to heating demands. The air controls are supported externally on the main housing of the boiler assembly so as to be modular and readily releasable from the main housing and the respective combustion air passages. The primary combustion chamber communicates with the secondary combustion chamber at a location partway in between introduction of the secondary combustion air and the exhaust passage.
