Abstract:
A video processing system captures a sequence of original video frames with a video camera, presents at least one frame of the sequence of original video frames on a video display, receives user input regarding the sequence of original video frames, and presents a sub-frame on the video display that corresponds to a region in at least one frame of the sequence of original video frames that is identified in the user input. The video processing system also generates metadata corresponding to the sub-frame, the metadata to be used by a target video player in modifying the sequence of original video frames to produce a full screen presentation on a target video display of the target video player corresponding to the sub-frame. Targeted sub-frame metadata can be specifically generated for use with a particular screen or screen size.
Abstract:
Distributed Internet caching via multiple node caching management. Caching decisions and management are performed based on information corresponding to more than one caching node device (sometimes referred to as a distributed caching node device, distributed Internet caching node device, and/or DCN) within a communication system. The communication system may be composed of one type or multiple types of communication networks that are communicatively coupled to communicate there between, and they may be composed of any one or combination types of communication links therein [wired, wireless, optical, satellite, etc.]). In some instances, more than one of these DCNs operate cooperatively to make caching decisions and direct management of content to be stored among the more than one DCNs. In an alternative embodiment, a managing DCN is operative to make caching decisions and direct management of content within more than one DCNs of a communication system.
Abstract:
A context sensitive searching front-end is disclosed for use in a deposition or trial proceeding wherein a computer aided transcription terminal provides real-time transcribed text down-line to attorney terminals. The terminals may thereafter use the transcribed text and any other text currently being displayed to formulate searches with little or no typing interaction required. Other text which may be used as a basis for searching includes communications from other attorney terminals, from artificial intelligence objection messages, and personal notes. Searching may be conducted on natural language or boolean front-ends which provide virtually instant feed-back as to the value of a search formulation before and after any “searching” actually occurs. Graphing of search results, including individual search word contribution, is provided for modification and selection of the documents to be reviewed. Library selection for searching is provided by analyzing the context from which the search originated, and from the actual words selected for searching. A database structure is also disclosed for providing backward referencing into the actual locations of search words without having to search the text files.
Abstract:
A control device that interacts with an entertainment system. The entertainment system drives a speaker device. The control device has a user interface that receives a user input identifying an audio selection and a language. At least one module of the control device transmits a control signal adapted to cause playing of audio information corresponding to the audio selection in the language identified by the user input on the entertainment system. The entertainment system may in addition drive a plurality of speaker devices. The control device may receive an additional language selection and cause playing of the audio information in a plurality of languages corresponding to the additional language selection on the plurality of speaker devices. Also for example, the control device may drive a second plurality of speaker devices. The control device may be adapted to receive media guide information and/or language guide information and present such information to a user.
Abstract:
The present invention provides attorney terminals which operate using an outline for storing, associating and managing case evidence, case law and work product for a given lawsuit at issue. Accessed through attorney terminals, the outline is structured based on a hierarchical categorization of the lawsuit into the law and fact at issue. Associated with each categorization entry in the hierarchical outline are groupings of case law, case evidence, relevance and draft discovery information for rapid access by the attorney. Each categorization entry in the tailored outline provides instant access to case law via headnotes, treatise selections, seminal cases, and preset searches. The disclosed invention also automatically: 1) tracks the use of Exhibits in a proceeding; 2) generates draft portions of a pretrial order including jury instructions; and 3) generates time-lines for analysis and use during a proceeding. Draft interrogatories, document requests and deposition or trial questions are also provided.
Abstract:
A transcription system having linked computer terminals for a court reporter and/or for examining, defending, and/or associate attorneys is disclosed. A method of language translation may be utilized by the transcription system during a testimonial proceeding, for example. The method involves receiving into the transcription system, in real-time, representations of words spoken in a first language during the testimonial proceeding. The representations are translated, in real-time, to text in the first language. The text in the first language is translated, in real-time, to text in a second language, and the text in the second language is communicated to a terminal for real-time display.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for processing media content are disclosed and may include a server operatively coupled to a network, a first communications device operatively coupled to the network, and a second communications device operatively coupled to the network. The second communications device may receive, from the first communications device, a device profile relating to the first communications device. The second communications device may send the device profile, received from the first communications device, and media content to the server. The server may reformat the media content based on the device profile received from the first communications device. The server may send the reformatted media content to the first communications device. The server may transcode the media content from a first type of format to a second type of format. The second type of format may be compatible with the first communications device.
Abstract:
Video frames from a sequence of video frames and corresponding audio are received and processed by a media player. A first portion of the sequence depends on fewer reference frames then a second portion of the sequence. The number of reference frames per frame is limited. The first and second portions of the sequence are treated differently. The first portion is received at a lower data rate, with greater security and processed with a more robust protocol stack than the second portion. The first and second portions may be stored in a single queue and/or separate queues. The first portion of frame data is utilized to compensate for lost frames by repeating and/or interpolating video frames. The media player constructs a local video frame and synchronizes corresponding audio content with it. The received, repeated and/or interpolated video frames are assembled into display order and decoded.

Abstract:
A method and system for simulcasting multimedia information via a broadband access gateway and a wireless wide area network, is disclosed. An access device such as, for example, a mobile multimedia handset engaged in a call served by a wireless wide area network may migrate to within the coverage area of an associated broadband access gateway with a wireless interface. The wireless wide area network may simulcast call content to the broadband access gateway via a broadband network. A user in the proximity of the broadband access gateway may be notified of the simulcasting of the call, and may elect to continue the call via a WLAN/PAN-enabled wireless handset or other access device that is compatible with the wired and/or wireless interfaces of the broadband access gateway.
