A process for the gas-phase polymerization of one or more alpha-olefins in the presence of a polymerization catalyst, the process comprising: at least a polymerization step wherein the polymer particles flow downward in densified form under the action of gravity so as to form a densified polymer bed; metering an anti-fouling agent in said polymerization step by means of at least N feeding lines placed at different heights of said densified polymer bed, N being the integer number satisfying the equation N≧(1+0.08·H), where H is the height (expressed in meters) of the polymer bed.

Mono-oriented film having a shrink rate at 100° C. of at least 15% and at least one layer of which comprises a propylene copolymer with ethylene and optionally other olefins of formula CH2═CHR in which R is an alkyl group containing from 2 to 10 carbon atoms, having at least 5.5% wt of ethylene, a melt flow rate according to ISO 1133 (230° C., 2.16 Kg) of less than 10, and a fraction of polymer soluble in xylene at 25° C. ranging from 14 to 30% weight based on the total weight of said copolymer. The said films are particularly suited for the manufacturing of shrink labels.

Films especially suitable for the packaging of fresh foodstuff, like salad and vegetables, due to their high permeability to oxygen, carbon dioxide and water vapor, are obtained from polyolefin composition comprising (percentage by weight): A) 5% to 80% of a butene-1 polymer or polymer composition containing from 0% to 25% of one or more comonomers selected from ethylene and alpha-olefins different from 1-butene, provided that, when ethylene only is present as comonomer, the amount of ethylene is higher than 4% and a copolymer fraction (i) containing at least 6.2% of ethylene is present, said polymer or polymer composition having a content of fraction soluble in xylene at 0° C. of from 50% to 100% and a Flexural Modulus (measured according to ISO 178) from 15 to 300 MPa; B) 20% to 95% of a propylene homopolymer or copolymer having a content of fraction insoluble in xylene at room temperature of 93% or more.

A process for producing polyolefin articles comprising an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer, wherein the polyolefin component is melted and mixed with the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer in the presence of a stabilizing composition comprising: a) one or more acid scavengers in amounts equal to or higher than 300 ppm by weight with respect to the weight of the polyolefin component; and b) one or more phenolic antioxidants in amounts equal to or higher than 1100 ppm by weight with respect to the weight of the polyolefin component.

A masterbatch composition comprising, all percent amounts being by weight: A) 10-45% of a homopolymer or a copolymer of propylene; B) 10-30% of a copolymer of propylene with ethylene, containing from 18 to 45% of ethylene; C) 42-60% of a copolymer of propylene with ethylene, containing from 55 to 85% of ethylene; said composition having a MFR L value from 0.01 to 10 g/10 min., a value of the intrinsic viscosity [η]sol of the fraction soluble in xylene at room temperature from 1.5 to 2.5 dl/g and a value of the ratio [η]sol/MFR L equal to or lower than 6.

Random propylene/ethylene copolymers are provided characterized by Ethylene content in the range of 4.5-7% wt; Mw/Mn (via GPC) in the range 3.5-5.5; Mz/Mw (via GPC) lower than 4; absence of 2-1 regioinversion, and Melting Temperature (Tm) (non-nucleated grade) lower than 143° C. The said copolymers show an excellent balance of impact and optical properties which is retained even after visbreaking.

A catalyst component for the polymerization of olefins comprising Mg, Ti and Cl obtained by a process comprising the following steps: a) reacting a precursor of formula MgCl2.mEtOH, wherein m≦1.5 having a porosity due to pores with radius up to 1μ of higher than 0.4 cm3/g with an alcohol of formula RIOH where RI is an alkyl different from ethyl, a cycloalkyl or aryl radical having 3-20 carbon atoms said RIOH being reacted with the said precursor using molar ratio RIOH/Mg ranging from 0.01 to 10; and b) reacting the product obtained in (a) with TiCl4 using Ti/Mg molar ratio ranging from 0.01 to 15.

Catalyst component comprising Mg, Ti, Hf, a halogen and, optionally, —OR groups where R is a C1-C20 hydrocarbon group, characterized in that (a) the Mg atoms are present in an amount higher than 7% based on the total weight of the said catalyst component, (b) the amount of Mg, Ti, and Hf atoms is such that the Mg/Ti molar ratio ranges from 3 to 25 and the Hf/Ti molar ratio is lower than 1.5 and (c) when —OR groups are present their amount is such that the —OR/Ti molar ratio is lower than 2.
