    Abstract: A fan blade for a fan impeller is coupled to a front endring and a rear endring. The fan blade includes a first portion, a second portion, a third portion, a leading edge, and a trailing edge. The second portion is positioned on a first side of the first portion. The third portion is positioned on a second side of the first portion. The leading edge defines a leading edge blade angle and the trailing edge defines a trailing edge blade angle. The leading edge blade angle and the trailing edge blade angle are constant within the first portion and the leading edge blade angle and the trailing edge blade angle vary within the second portion and the third portion.

    Abstract: An axial flux rotor for use in a motor with a stator is provided. The rotor includes a body including an outer periphery defined by outside radius OR. The body further has a central opening defined by inner radius IR and a plurality N of rotor poles defining an axis of rotation of the body. The body has first and second opposed faces. The rotor also includes a plurality of spaced apart axially imbedded magnets extending from the first face. At least one of the axially imbedded magnets has a minimum depth defined by defined by the equation D min = π * ( OR + IR ) 2 * N * BrA * BrS , wherein BrS is the Remanent Flux Density of Surface Mounted Magnet, wherein OR is the outside radius of the body, wherein IR is the inner radius of the body, wherein N is the number of rotor poles, and wherein BrA is the Remanent Flux Density of Axially Imbedded Magnet.

    Abstract: A motor controller for an electric motor for driving a blower to generate an airflow. The motor controller includes a processor and a drive circuit configured to regulate power supplied to the motor to turn the blower. The processor computes a system resistance for the blower based on a fixed set point for a first control parameter and a feedback parameter. The processor receives an airflow rate demand value and computes an operating set point for a second control parameter based on the system resistance and the airflow rate demand value. The processor controls the drive circuit based on the operating set point to supply electrical power to the electric motor and to operate the blower to generate the airflow.

    Abstract: A fan drive circuit for a variable speed fan motor in a cooling system, includes an inverter configured to supply a current signal to stator windings of the variable speed fan motor, a frequency detection circuit coupled to an output stage of an inverter of a compressor motor of the cooling system and configured to detect a first frequency of a compressor current signal at the output stage of a variable speed compressor drive circuit and generate a frequency signal, and a digital signal processor (DSP) coupled to the inverter and the frequency detection circuit. The DSP is configured to receive the frequency signal corresponding to the first frequency from the frequency detection circuit, select a second frequency corresponding to the first frequency at which to operate the variable speed fan motor, and transmit control signals to the inverter to supply current to the stator windings at the second frequency.

    Abstract: A centrifugal blower assembly includes a scroll wall and at least one sidewall. The scroll wall is coupled to the at least one sidewall such that the scroll wall and the at least one sidewall at least partially define a blower chamber. The centrifugal blower assembly also includes an air stream splitter coupled to the scroll wall. The air stream splitter includes a base member fixedly coupled to the scroll wall and positioned within the blower chamber and a spline member extending a varying distance from the scroll wall and perpendicularly from the base member. An outer surface of the airstream splitter contacts an inner surface of the scroll wall.
