Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) having partially coherent antennas may be configured for simultaneous transmissions on groups of antennas. To achieve the benefits of simultaneous transmissions using groups of antenna that are partially coherent, without having the transmissions affect each other, the UE may apply a hybrid closed-loop multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) scheme among each antenna in the antenna groups where phase coherence can be maintained. Following the hybrid closed-loop MIMO scheme, the UE may apply a transparent diversity scheme across each antenna of the groups. Alternatively, the UE may first apply the transparent diversity scheme and next apply the hybrid closed-loop MIMO scheme. By applying a hybrid closed-loop MIMO scheme, and a transparent diversity scheme, the UE may fully realize its resources and contribute to an improved spatial diversity for a MIMO system.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for determining tone patterns for transmission of reference signals. One or more parameters associated with communications with a base station over a time duration, may be determined by a user equipment. The user equipment may determine, based on the one or more parameters, a tone pattern for a reference signal for use in communications with the base station over a future time duration. The user equipment may then transmit the tone pattern to the base station. The user equipment may then receive the reference signal from the base station, over the tone patterns.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to determining channel state information (CSI) on a component carrier. In an example operation, a device determines a mapping between first time-frequency resources corresponding to a first component carrier (CC) and second time-frequency resources corresponding to a second CC using a prediction algorithm. The device receives, from a base station, a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) on the first time-frequency resources corresponding to the first CC and measures first CSI on the first time-frequency resources corresponding to the first CC based on the received CSI-RS. The device further predicts second CSI on the second time-frequency resources corresponding to the second CC based on the measured first CSI using the prediction algorithm. The device then generates a CSI report based on the predicted second CSI and sends the CSI report to the base station.

Abstract: Techniques for position estimation using uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) signals via a fully or partially reciprocal wireless channel between a User Equipment (UE) and terrestrial transceiver can be enhanced by leveraging information obtained from UL or DL signals having the stronger Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR). This information can include the number of paths and/or complex sinusoids, and can be shared with the base station or location server to parameterize the model of the wireless channel. In some embodiments, the UE can further determine a quality metric for the model and send it to the location server or terrestrial transceiver.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may associate a first and second port with a set of antenna elements based on a first and second linear precoding vector. The base station may generate coefficients indicating a first combination and a second combination of a first data set for a first user equipment (UE) and a second data set for a second UE. The base station may apply the first and second linear precoding vectors to the first and second combinations, respectively, transmit a first demodulation reference signal (DMRS) and a second DMRS using a first comb corresponding to the first and second ports, and transmit at least a third DMRS indicating the coefficients using a second comb. The UEs may extract data from the precoded combinations by applying the coefficients and estimating channels associated with the first and second DMRS.

A UE may receive, from a base station, signaling including information associated with a surrounding in which the UE is located. In some examples, the information associated with the surrounding in which the UE is located may be determined via a sensor coupled with the base station. For example, the UE may receive one or more environmental parameters including at least one of UE position information, a time of day, a number of connected UEs at the base station, or a combination thereof. The UE may then perform a communication procedure with the base station based on the information associated with the surrounding in which the UE is located.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, devices, and computer-readable media that support base station-assisted and unassisted sharing of particular information between neighboring user equipments (UEs). In a particular implementation, a method of wireless communication includes receiving, at a base station from a first UE, an information request corresponding to neighbor UEs of the first UE. The method also includes retrieving, at the base station from one or more serving UEs, corresponding information. The method further includes transmitting, from the base station to the first UE, an information package that includes the information corresponding to at least one of the one or more serving UEs. Abstract: A base station may determine a root for a sequence to be included in a signal to a UE. The base station may generate a generalized Chu sequence based on the root and scramble the generalized Chu sequence using a pseudorandom sequence that is common to a plurality of base stations. The base station may transmit the scrambled generalized Chu sequence to indicate the beginning of a downlink transmission. The UE may receive this scrambled generalized Chu sequence and determine if a beginning of a downlink transmission from a serving base station based on the received generalized Chu sequence and an expected generalized Chu sequence.
