    Abstract: An upright vacuum cleaner includes a blower for pulling air and debris through the upright vacuum cleaner, a motor connected to the blower, and a cleaning head for removing the debris from a floor. The cleaning head includes a front wall, a rear wall, a first sidewall, and a second sidewall. The first sidewall and the second sidewall extend between the front wall and rear wall. The vacuum cleaner further includes a debris tube connected to the cleaning head for receiving the debris from the cleaning head. The vacuum cleaner also includes magnet assemblies adapted to prevent metal objects from entering the cleaning head. Each magnet assembly includes a bracket and a magnet. The bracket includes a horizontal plate and a vertical plate. The magnet is connected to the vertical plate. The front wall includes shelves to support the magnet assemblies. Each shelf is arranged to receive one of the magnet assemblies such that the horizontal plate rests on the shelf and the magnet is positioned below the shelf.

    Abstract: Applicant has created systems, methods, and apparatuses for controlling the power supply of a vacuum cleaner motor. The systems and apparatuses include pressure taps to detect a pressure differential within a vacuum cleaner, a float that adjusts depending on an amount of liquid stored, and a power switch that toggles based on the pressure differential created by the position of the float. Alternatively, the float can be replaced by an air chamber so that the pressure differential is created by liquid rising above the volume of air trapped in the chamber. The method can include interrupting the current supplied to an electrical circuit of a power switch based upon a pressure differential created within the vacuum. By controlling the power supply to a vacuum cleaner motor based on a pressure differential created by the amount of liquid stored within the vacuum cleaner, the vacuum cleaner can automatically disable the vacuum cleaner's motor as the vacuum approaches its maximum liquid capacity.

    Abstract: A vacuum cleaner is described that includes an elongated vacuum body, an optional battery-pack attached to the bottom end of the elongated vacuum body, and a removable backpack assembly with shoulder and waist straps attachable directly to the elongated vacuum body. The shape of the elongated vacuum body is such that the center of gravity of the body is shifted close to the body of the vacuum appliance user, allowing for greater freedom of movement during use. The vacuum appliance also includes exhaust air vents positioned to reduce the noise output of the vacuum appliance as perceived by the user during use.

    Abstract: A water heater includes a storage tank, a sensor configured to measure a temperature of water in the storage tank, a burner configured to heat the water in the storage tank, and a controller communicatively coupled to the sensor and the burner. The controller is configured to initiate a call for heat when the measured temperature reaches a trigger temperature, wherein the trigger temperature is a differential amount less than a set-point temperature, calculate a reduced activation time when the call for heat results in a predetermined number of calls for heat occurring within a predetermined time period, and control the burner based on the reduced activation time.

    Abstract: A counter top food waste disposer in accordance with an aspect of the present disclosure includes a food conveying section, a motor section and a grind and discharge section disposed between the food conveying section and the motor section. In an aspect, the food waste disposer also includes a discharge area in which a container is removably receivable. When the container is received in the discharge area, during operation of the food waste disposer food waste is dischargeable from a discharge outlet of a discharge section into the container.
