Abstract:
A document server is provided for processing a distribution job in a document processing system. The document processing system includes a document manager, communicating with first and second virtual services, for coordinating the storing or processing of first and second copies of an image data set at the first and second virtual services, respectively. The document processing system further includes a distribution agent, communicating with the document manager, for receiving a first job ticket, including attributes for controlling the storing or processing of the first copy of the image data set at the first virtual service and a second job ticket for controlling the storing or processing of the second copy of the image data set at the second virtual service. In practice, the distribution agent transmits the first job ticket to the document manager at a first time so that the document manager routes the first copy of the image data set and the first job ticket to the first virtual service, and the distribution agent transmits the second job ticket to the document manager at a second time so that the document manager routes the second copy of the image data set and second job ticket to the second virtual service.
Abstract:
The use and production of immunoglobulins which activate trk receptors and imitate effects of neurotrophins are provided. Immunoglobulins which block trk receptor activation and methods of use are also provided.
Abstract:
A combination collapsible chair and walker device aids a handicapped user to move and to exercise in an independent manner. The device has a pair of upstanding complementary frame members laterally spaced apart from each other and connected by a two-part connecting tubular crossbar at its top front portion. Arm rests are attached to the frame for engaging the arm pits of the user. The device includes a swinging gate at its rear portion to allow a user to enter the device when raised. The gate is lowered when the device is in use to add structural integrity to the top and to provide for greater safety to the user by preventing the user from falling backwards out of the device. The frame members are mounted on a stable two-part wide base ring which is supported on swivel-type casters. A seat is mounted on the frame members and is formed of two hinged connected panels whereby the seat may be folded in half. The two-part connecting tubular member, the two-part wide base ring and the two hinged connected seat panels permit the device to be compactly collapsed for easy storage.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method of a robot or like end-of-arm tool (EOAT) for gripping workpieces by cavities in the workpieces is provided. The EOAT is connected with the robot or like and includes an extendible rod having a generally flanged end opposite the robot. The EOAT also includes at least one spacer encircling the rod between the robot or like and the flanged end of the rod, and at least two elastomeric gripper portions encircling the rod and capturing at least one spacer. The gripper portions have a first dimension when the rod is extended whereby at least one of the gripper portions can be inserted into a workpiece cavity and the gripper portions have a second dimension when the rod is retracted whereby the gripper portions can engage with the workpiece cavity to grip the workpiece.
Abstract:
An engineered lighting system for use in an inspection system is comprised of an array of light emitting diodes. A specimen is brought into the viewing area, and a current pulse is provided to the diodes of the array to selectively flash all or a portion of the diodes of the array. Reflected light from the specimen is sensed and a digitized image is generated therefrom. An illumination level of the digitized image is adjustable, in whole or in part, by varying the effective lighting intensity of one or more of the diodes of the array during a flash period. The digitized image of the specimen is compared to data indicative of acceptability of the specimen, and acceptance or rejection of the specimen is decided on a basis of a comparison therebetween.
Abstract:
A comfortable overshoe that can be worn over various types of footwear has a flexible, resilient sole and means for releasably attaching the overshoe to a boot or other footwear. The sole has a flexible, generally planar, medial wall, with a plurality of hollow domes formed in and extending from the top side of the medial wall. A plurality of triradial support members extend from the bottom of the medial wall and are spaced around the underside of each dome.
Abstract:
An anti-collision warning system for intersections includes a vehicle sensor adapted to detect an approaching vehicle; two or more warning strips, which contain signal-activated warning lights and function as gentle, but effective, speed bumps to approaching vehicles; and a controller coupled to the sensor and to the warning strips. The system is internally and/or externally powered and can be installed in a warehouse, factory, or other venue having an intersection where a vehicle path meets a pedestrian path, or where two vehicle paths meet. An improved warning strip/speed bump, adapted for use in the anti-collision warning system, includes an elongate member, preferably trapezoidal in cross-section, with an elevated upper face or top, opposed first and second ramp faces that converge toward the upper face, and a bottom face; a pair of longitudinal channel in the bottom of the member; and a plurality of LEDs secured within the channels.
Abstract:
A computer-based apparatus for dispensing a medication, including: at least one specially programmed computer; and, a medication device. The at least one specially programmed computer is arranged to calculate or modify, for a patient, a dosage for a first orally-administered or injectable medication and a constraint related to administration of the dosage by using a current point in time, a point in time at which a previous dosage of the first orally-administered or injectable medication was administered, information regarding a second medication prescribed for the patient, or real time physiological data for a patient. The medication device is arranged to: extract the first orally-administered or injectable medication from a medication storage element; and non-intravenously dispense the first orally-administered or injectable medication in accordance with the dosage and the constraint.
Abstract:
A computer-based system for implementing and monitoring compliance with a medication regimen, including: at least one memory element of at least one computer configured to store computer readable instructions; and at least one processor for the at least one computer configured to execute the computer readable instructions to: receive the medication regimen from a medical practitioner or a pharmacist, the medication regimen including first instructions for taking the first medication; store the medication regimen in the at least one memory element; generate at least one first compliance message regarding compliance with the first instructions; generate, using the first instructions, a first schedule for transmitting the at least one first compliance message; receive a confirmation that the first medication has been made available to a patient; and transmit, according to the first schedule, the at least one first compliance message for receipt by the patient.
Abstract:
An image data storage system and associated method store, on one or more disk drives in a disk drive array, original image data for different images as well as multiple resolution levels of compressed image data for each image. The lowest resolution level image data for multiple different images (i.e., “thumbnail” copies of images) are grouped together and stored within sectors closest to the center. The progressively higher resolution levels of image data for the same images can similarly be grouped together and stored within sectors sequentially from a first track closest to the center to a last track closet to an outer edge. Alternatively, all higher resolution levels of image data for any single image can be grouped together and stored within a same sector as close to the center as possible. This organization can significantly reduce average access time for large collections of images.
