Provided is a fuel pump comprising: a pump body; a plunger reciprocatably displaceable with respect to the pump body; and a plurality of valve elements inclusive of a suction valve to allow the fuel to be sucked into the fuel pressurizing chamber and a discharge valve to allow the fuel to be discharged out of the fuel pressurizing chamber, in which the pump body comprises a tubular valve retention member to retain the plurality of valve elements, a cylinder member to slidably retain the plunger, and an outer shell member having an inner wall surface facing an outer surface of the valve retention member, the inner wall surface and the outer surface of the valve retention member collectively forming a suction gallery chamber.

To reduce power consumption for communication operation wherein a client terminal at the time of offline searches a base station or access point.A server uses a communication information predicting algorithm to predict a location or time whereby the server becomes an offline state over a movement route of a client terminal, and a location or time whereby the server returns to an online state, and informs to the client terminal. The client terminal suspends a communication function when reaching the informed offline predicted location or time. The client terminal at the time of offline determines that the current location or time has reached an online return predicted location or time using location recognition or point-in-time recognition, and restores the communication function.

According to one embodiment, a data reproducing apparatus includes a data recording medium, light source unit, light application unit, photodetector unit and control unit. An address mark string including address marks is formed on the data recording medium. The address marks are spaced from each other by a distance depending on address data. The light application unit is configured to split the light beam into a first branch light beam and a second branch light beam and apply the first and second branch light beams to the address mark string at different angles. The photodetector unit is configured to detect first reflected light beams and second reflected light beams from the address mark string to generate image data. The first and second reflected light beams result from the first and second branch light beams, respectively. The control unit is configured to reproduce address data based on the image data.

A focus servo control device includes a first detector, first controller, second detector, and second controller. The first detector detects a first focus error signal. The first controller controls the objective lens based on the first focus error signal, so that a focal point of the first laser agrees with the guide layer. The second detector detects a second focus error signal. The second controller changes a relative distance between the focal point of the second laser and the focal point of the first laser, so that the focal point of the second laser agrees with a target recording/reproducing layer.

Multi-carrier transmission is performed without inserting a repetitive signal into guard interval periods. A transmitter provides guard interval periods by using a null signal to save transmission power and prevent the deterioration of the SN ratio. Delayed waves at the head of each received symbol cause high-frequency waves to occur and carriers to interfere with one another. Accordingly, a receiver adds a component following each received symbol to a delayed-wave component at the head of the received symbol. As a result, the delayed-wave component at the head of the received symbol and the added component become continuous in wave form and subcarriers do not interfere with each other.

A modification region processing section detects, out of image data, A locations where a region identification signal provided from a region separation processing section changes from a ground region mode to a character region mode, and vice versa, as the boundary between the ground region and the character region, and thereby specifies a modification region which is continuous with the ground region and overlaps with a part of a periphery of the character region which is contiguous to the ground region. The modification region is assigned color data indicating a color that can be represented by the recording agent for use in ground region formation thereby to generate image data.
