摘要: The pictures of a video signal (a1) are coded and quantized in data blocks by a hybrid coder (4). A quantizer (404) is controlled in dependence upon the filling level of a buffer memory. To improve the bit rate reduction without any loss of picture quality in a standardized hybrid coder, circuitry is provided with which in special cases the usual control of the quantizer (404) is replaced by another type of control. There is such a special case when a data block is recognized as being associated with the background of a scene. This data block is then transmitted with high accuracy (very fine quantization), whereas the data blocks of the subsequent video pictures associated with the same background are not transmitted at all (coarsest quantization).

摘要: A system for transmitting video pictures includes a hybrid encoder which encodes the incoming data of a video picture in blocks. Preferably, at the receiver end a hybrid decoder cancels the encoding steps of the hybrid encoder. The incoming blocks of a video picture are transformed inter alia by a transform unit (T) and quantized by a quantizer (Q). In order to adapt the system to transmission bit rates of between 64 kbit/s and 2 Mbit/s in an optimum manner, a structuring unit (SE) is provided which combines a plurality of blocks, which represent a coherent section of a video picture, to one macro-block. It assigns a macro-attribute to each macro-block from which attribute it can be derived which properties are identical for all sub-blocks of the macro-blocks and which are not. Such properties are, for example, records about the motion vector of each sub-block, which vector may be the same, for example, for all sub-blocks. When using a separate macro-attribute (NON), there is no property which can be considered to be the same for all sub-blocks of a macro-block, but the properties are assigned to each sub-block proper. If required, the macro-blocks themselves are again treated as sub-blocks, i.e. they are combined to still larger units. When transmitting stationary pictures, a very effective encoding is the result.

摘要: A cuvette for the determination of a chemical component of a fluid by photo evaluation has two planar-shaped parts parallel to one another at least one of which is transparent in the spectral range used for the evaluation. A planar distance piece of a filamentary reticulation for receiving the fluid therein spaces the planar-shaped parts apart to set the length of the light path through the cuvette for the photo evaluation.

摘要: Waterfloatation systems to prevent decubitus ulcers are known, but they suffer the disadvantages that systems having foam frames require a large volume for storage and transport. Modular systems which are very handy for hospitals normally are too expensive for home patients. This invention provides a floatation system having a foam frame which can be reduced to a very small volume and which can be used as a waterfloatation support for home patients at a considerably lower cost than conventional systems.

摘要: An apparatus (30, 40, 50) and a method of ink jet printing are disclosed that use a system for feeding a substrate longitudinally relative to a support area and a system for moving a printhead parallel to the direction of substrate feed. Indexing between transverse scan rows of a printhead (20) is carried out initially by the substrate feed system (16) and the actual feed distance is measured using an encoder or other substrate position measurement device (26). A controller (25) determines the amount of any error that occurs between the actual and the desired feed distances. The controller (25) then sends signals to move the printhead (20) to compensate for any error in the feed system feed. Compensating adjustments are then made to the next subsequent substrate indexing step so that the printhead tends to move back toward its home or zeroed position with its next correction and does not walk away from this home position as a result of cumulative movements. For printers that have bridges (17) moveable relative to the machine frame (11) on which the printhead (20) is carried, printhead motion is achieved by moving the bridge, for example, by actuating a linear servo bridge motion system (31). For fixed bridge roll-to-roll printers, the printhead (20) can be caused to shift longitudinally on the bridge (17) to make the correcting movements.

摘要: For sealing an annular space (4) between opening (2) in a wall or similar, member (1) and an object (3), extending through the opening (2), by introducing a sealing agent into the space (4), at least one bag (9, 10), into which the sealing agent is introduced, is positioned in the space (4). For this purpose, a supporting element (5, 6) is used, which can be positioned in the opening and to which a bag (9, 10) is fastened. The annular space (4) can be sealed easily and also liquid-tight in this manner.
