Abstract: Embodiments of a dynamically bendable automotive interior display system are disclosed. In one or more embodiments, the system includes a display, a dynamically bendable cover substrate assembly disposed over the display, wherein the cover substrate assembly comprises a cover substrate with a bend axis, and a reversible support attached to at least a portion the cover substrate that dynamically bends the cover substrate along the bend axis in a cycle from a first radius of curvature to a second radius of curvature and from the second radius of curvature to the first radius of curvature. In one or more embodiments, the system includes one or more frames that partially house the display and are attached to the cover substrate.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are embodiments of a method of forming a glass sheet. In the method, a first bend radius is hot-formed in a first region at or above a first temperature. A second bend radius is cold-formed over a second region at a second temperature below the first temperature. The second bend radius is greater than the first bend radius. Also disclosed is a component of a vehicle interior system. The component includes a frame and a glass sheet. The glass sheet has a first curvature with a first bend radius formed by hot-forming. The glass sheet has a second curvature with a second bend radius, less than the first bend radius, formed by cold-forming. The glass sheet is adhered to the frame with an adhesive, and the adhesive is under greater stress in a region of the second curvature than in a region of the first curvature.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of forming a glass article in which a glass sheet is bent over a forming surface of a chuck. The forming surface defines a first shape including a curvature having a radius of curvature of 1000 mm or less, and the glass sheet includes a first major surface in contact with the forming surface. A frame is adhered to a second major surface of the glass sheet. The frame includes a frame support surface defining a second shape including a second curvature having a second radius of curvature of 1000 mm or less. A total force is applied to the glass sheet so that the glass sheet forms a third shape including a third curvature having a third radius of curvature of 1000 mm or less. The third shape deviates from the second shape by 2 mm or less across the frame support surface.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure relate to a rollable glass sheet configured to reversibly transition between a flat configuration and a bent configuration. The rollable glass sheet includes a first major surface and a second major surface opposite to the first major surface. The first major surface and the second major surface define a thickness of the glass sheet that is 0.4 mm or less. In the flat configuration, the first major surface includes a first surface compressive stress and a first depth of compression, and in the bent configuration, the first major surface includes a curvature. At a radius of curvature of 50 mm, the first major surface includes a second surface compressive stress less than the first compressive stress and a second depth of compression less than the first depth of compression and greater than 11 μm.

Abstract: Embodiments of this disclosuer pertain to glass articles that comprise a maximum CS magnitude (CSmax) of about 900 MPa or greater, a CS magnitude of 750 MPa or greater at a depth of about 5 micrometers, and a maximum CT magnitude (CTmax) disposed at a depth from the first major surface in a range from about 0.25 t to about 0.75 t. Embodiments of a curved glass article are also disclosed. In one or more embodiments, such curved glass articles include the first major concave surface comprising a maximum radius of curvature of about 100 mm or greater and a first maximum CS value (CSmax1) greater than about 800 MPa, a second major convex surface comprising a second maximum CS value (CSmax2), wherein the CSmax2 is less than CSmax1. Embodiments of an automotive interior system including such curved glass articles and methods of making glass articles are also disclosed.
