Abstract:
Systems and methods for reducing problems and disadvantages associated with traditional approaches to providing accessibility and redundancy for access controller storage media are provided. A method for providing accessibility for storage media of an access controller in an information handling system may include: (i) emulating the storage media such that the storage media appears to an operating system executing on the information handling system as storage media locally attached to the information handling system; (ii) mounting the storage media such that data may be communicated between the storage media and a processor integral to the access controller; (iii) mounting a portion of a network-attached storage remote to the information handling system such that data may be communicated between the portion of the network-attached storage and the processor; and (iv) maintaining redundancy between the storage media and the portion of network-attached storage in accordance with a redundancy policy.

The access controller may be configured to, when locally coupled to a second information handling system determine if the second information handling system is authorized to perform virtual crash cart operations on the information handling system and, responsive to determining that the second information handling system is authorized to perform virtual crash cart operations on the information handling system, permit the second information handling system to perform virtual crash cart operations on the information handling system whereby the second information handling system implements one or more virtual information handling resources such that each virtual information handling resource behaves at least in part as a physical information handling resource present at the information handling system.
Abstract:
In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, an information handling system may include a processor, a management controller communicatively coupled to the processor and configured to provide out-of-band management of the information handling system, and one or more logic devices. The one or more logic devices may be configured to monitor a power-over-Ethernet input of a network interface communicatively coupled to the one or more logic devices in order to detect an indication at the power-over-Ethernet input of a request to remotely reset the management controller and, responsive to determining presence of the indication at the power-over-Ethernet input of the request to remotely reset the management controller, cause a reset of the management controller.
Abstract:

In an illustrative, non-limiting embodiment, an Information Handling System (IHS) may include a plurality of modules, each of the plurality of modules including a plurality of nodes, each of the plurality of nodes including a system-on-chip (SoC), each of the plurality of SoCs including an integrated management controller (iMC), each of the plurality of iMCs configured to implement a first intelligent platform management interface (IPMI) stack having a first architecture; and a plurality of baseboard management controllers (BMCs), each of the BMCs disposed on a corresponding one of the plurality of modules, each of the BMCs coupled to the plurality of iMCs on the corresponding one of the plurality of modules, each of the plurality of iMCs configured to implement a second IPMI stack having a second architecture different from the first architecture.
Abstract:
A method may include in response to determining a host system is off, configuring a video controller of an information handling system including setting a display resolution of the video controller and writing management video data associated to a primary frame buffer such that management video data is able to be retrieved by the video controller for output to one or both of a first display associated with the host system and a second display of a management interface communicatively coupled to a management controller communicatively coupled to the processor and the memory and configured to provide out-of-band management of the information handling system. The method may further include in response to determining the host system is on, writing the management video data to an alternate frame buffer such that management video data is able to be retrieved by the video controller for output to the second display.
Abstract:
In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, an information handling system may include a processor, a management controller communicatively coupled to the processor and configured to provide out-of-bound management of the information handling system, and one or more logic devices.
Abstract:
In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, an information handling system may include a processor and a management controller for providing out-of-band management facilities for management of the information handling system, the management controller configured to emulate a physical audio controller device for interfacing with an operating system executing on the processor such that the management controller proxies audio data between the operating system and one or more audio devices.
Abstract:
In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a method may include powering on a management controller for providing out-of-band management to an information handling system using electrical energy provided by an external device via an external port, receiving a management task from the external device via the external port for coupling an external device to the management controller for communication of data between the external device and the management controller, calculating an additional amount of power required to perform the management task, instructing a controller coupled between the management controller and the external port to negotiate for the additional amount of power from the external device, and responsive to the controller successfully negotiating for the additional amount of power, performing the management task.
Abstract:
In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a system may include a storage controller for managing virtual storage resources and physical storage resources of one or more information handling systems. The storage controller may be configured to, responsive to removal of a physical storage resource owned by the storage controller from a first information handling system broadcast a request to one or more other information handling systems to determine if the physical storage resource has been relocated to a second information handling system. The storage controller may also be configured to, responsive to receiving a reply from the second information handling system indicating that the physical storage resource has been relocated to the second information handling system, operate in concert with a second storage controller of the second information handling system to use the data of the physical storage resource.
Abstract:
In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a method may include receiving a unique identifier associated with a host information handling system. The method may also include, responsive to receiving the unique identifier, communicating a signed unique identifier to the host information handling system, the signed unique identifier comprising the unique identifier signed with a private key. The method may further include enabling at least one of pre-boot access and root access by a client information handling system to an access controller responsive to the access controller decrypting the signed unique identifier with a public key corresponding to the private key and determining that the decrypted signed unique identifier and the unique identifier match.
