摘要： A video and audio signal recorder for recording signals on tracks records signals of each editorial unit (e.g. video or audio signals of a field) on a recording medium so as to form a recording area composed of recorded tracks and a guarding area provided between two recording areas, and erases recorded data from a recording area isolated by the guarding area using two kinds of erase heads consisting of: a first erase head having a track width which is twice as wide as the track width and movable in a track length direction so as to track the full width of the single track forming the audio record area and a half width of the non-recorded track in each of the guarding areas adjacent to the audio record area at opposite sides of the audio record area for erasing the audio samples recorded in the audio record area; and a second erase head having a width which is n times as wide as said specific track width (n is an integer larger than two), and movable in the track length direction so as to trace the full width of each of specific consecutive (n-1) tracks in the video record area and a half width of each of two tracks adjacent to the specific consecutive (n-1) tracks at opposite sides of the specific consecutive (n-1) tracks for erasing the video samples recorded in the video record area.

摘要： A video signal recording and playback apparatus for recording each field of a video signal as a plurality of segments on a plurality of tracks, including a circuit for inserting segment index signals after conversion of the video signal to a recording signal, to be recorded together with the recording signal to designate the respective segments. During varied-speed playback operation, the segment index signals are detected in the playback signal, and the data thus obtained are used to control the operation of a memory which temporarily stores successively produced portions of the playback signal. A playback signal can thereby be obtained by combining output signals from the memory, which will produce a satisfactory display image during varied-speed playback operation, e.g. during high-speed playback, with only simple signal processing being required.

The recording/reproduction device is provided with a pick-up for recording or reproducing information and a control portion for controlling an operation of the pick-up, in which when reproduction is performed from an information recording medium on which in a separate area from a main sequence in which data blocks including original audio data and video data are recorded in succession, an additional sequence in which data blocks including post-record audio data are recorded in succession is formed, the control portion controls an operation of the pick-up in such a manner that the pick-up accesses the main sequence and the additional sequence alternately, and reproduces a plurality of data blocks in succession in each access.

The simultaneous recording and reproduction is guaranteed by reproducing data recorded in an area having at least a minimum size fulfilling the simultaneous recording and reproduction condition which allows for four access operations, recording data in an area having at least the same size, and performing reproduction and recording alternately by switching reproduction to recording when the data amount in the reproduction buffer becomes full and switching recording to reproduction when the data amount in the recording buffer becomes empty.
