摘要： An image forming apparatus of the present invention includes a movable body to be charged and a charger including a charging member that contacts or adjoins the body to be charged and applies a voltage, including an AC component, to the charging member for thereby charging the body. A protection substance for protecting the surface of the body from deterioration ascribable to charging is caused to exist on the body. The number of particular elements, contained in the protection substance and detected by an X-ray photon spectral analyzer (XPS) in a zone where the charging member charges the body, is held in a particular ratio to the total number of all elements constituting the outermost surface of the body and also detected by the XPS.

摘要： In an image forming apparatus that employs a system of charging by adjacent discharge, not only can degradation of the photoreceptor surface caused by adjacent discharge be prevented, but also there is no side effect on the developer, and at the same time size reduction is achieved. The image forming apparatus comprises an object to be charged whose surface moves; a charging device for charging the object to be charged using an electrical discharge generated by applying a voltage comprising an alternating current component to a charging member provided in contact with or in proximity to the object to be charged; a latent image forming device for forming an electrostatic latent image on the surface of the object charged by the charging device; and a developing device for causing a two-component developer to come into contact with the image portion of the electrostatic latent image formed by the latent image forming device and affixing toner thereto. A protective substance is present on the surface of the object to be charged in the discharge region for charging the object to be charged, and the saturation magnetization of the carrier of the two-component developer with respect to an applied magnetic field of 1000 oersted is 40 to 80 emu/g.

An outer peripheral surface of the die body is provided with a peripheral groove which is in communication with the inflow ports.

摘要： A two-component developer comprises a toner which contains at least a resin and a colorant and to which an external additive is added, and a carrier. The toner has a number average molecular weight (Mn) not greater than 3,000 and contains particles having a molecular weight not greater than 1,000 in an amount not less than 40 number %. The carrier satisfies the relation 3,000,000≦&sgr;1000×Dc3≦20,000,00  (1) where &sgr;1000 represents a magnetization (emu/g) of the carrier at 1,000 oersted, and Dc represents a volume average particle diameter (&mgr;m) of the carrier.

The media cartridge is detachably mountable on an image recording apparatus for forming an image on a sheet and includes a frame body which includes sheets for recording an image by the image recording apparatus, an ink containing member for containing ink to be supplied to an image recording unit of the image recording apparatus and to be discharged on the sheets, a pick-up unit for feeding the sheets one by one from the frame body, and an ink absorbent member for absorbing the ink not used for recording in the image recording apparatus in a state that the frame body is mounted thereon.
