摘要: A magnetic-head supporting mechanism includes a slider having a chamfered bleed portion, a mounting portion on which the slider is mounted, a flexible finger portion extending in a longitudinal direction and supporting the mounting portion, a load beam extending in the longitudinal direction that connects at an end to a positioning mechanism, and that applies a load to the slider, and a regulating member extending from the load beam in the longitudinal direction for preventing change of an attitude of the slider when an angular attitude of the slider exceeds a predetermined angle. The regulating member extends over and above the flexible finger portion and over and above the slider and has an end in the longitudinal direction at a position approximately equal to an end of the flexible finger portion in the longitudinal direction.

摘要: A profile generation device obtains image data including information on pixel locations each indicating a location of a pixel, and extracts a location as an extraction point from the image data, the location being correlated with a predetermined color value to be used for generating a profile. The profile generation device performs a color measurement on an output image, and detects a location in the output image and a colorimetric value of the location, then generates data to be used for generating the profile from a pair of the color value correlated with the extraction point and the colorimetric value correlated with the location in the output image, wherein the location corresponds to the extraction point. Consequently, the profile generation device generates the profile by using the generated data.

摘要: A MEMS device including a getter film formed inside a hermetic chamber provides stable performance of the MEMS device by electrically stabilizing the getter film. The MEMS device includes a movable portion and a fixed portion formed inside the hermetic chamber. The hermetic chamber is formed by a base material of the MEMS device and glass substrates and 32 having a cavity and cavities made therein. A part of any continuous getter film formed inside the hermetic chamber connects to only one of any one or a plurality of predetermined electrical potentials of the fixed portion and a ground potential of the fixed portion through the base material of the MEMS device.

摘要: Shock-absorbing material made from a mixture of solid particles and viscous elastic material is arranged at the periphery of an information storage and retrieval device. When an external shock is applied to the device, the shock-absorbing material is greatly deformed and dissipates the shock energy by inner friction sufficiently to prevent damage to the inner mechanism of the device. The deformed shock-absorbing material can be restored to the original shape so that it is repeatedly usable. Furthermore, by comparing the deformed shape and the quick reference table provided with the device, the amount shock acceleration can be roughly determined. The device conforms to one of a series of dimensional standards for information storage and retrieval devices.

摘要: A deformable conductive elastomer excellent in reliability, linearity, and mechanical characteristics, and a manufacturing method thereof are provided. Elastomer particles with a particle size of 10 through 300 &mgr;m and conductive particles with a particle size of 10 through 40 &mgr;m are almost uniformly dispersed in a non-conductive elastomer. Ceramic particles with a particle size of 1000 nm or less are also almost uniformly dispersed in the non-conductive elastomer. At least the non-conductive elastomer uncrosslinked, the elastomer particles, and the conductive particles are added to the dispersion medium, and the mixture is vibrated, mixed, and dried to crosslink the uncrosslinked non-conductive elastomer. At least the non-conductive elastomer, the elastomer particles, and the conductive particles are added to the dispersion medium, and the mixture is vibrated, mixed, and dried.

摘要: A current-limiting resistor is connected between a power-supply line and a heater provided near the oxygen-detecting element of limiting-current type oxygen sensor. A power MOSFET is connected between the heater and a ground line. The resistor and the heater have such resistances that a current I2 flowing through the resistor and the heater when the heater has a resistance R2 is about I1{square root over ((R1/R2))}, where I1 is a current flowing through the resistor and the heater when the heater has a resistance R1.

摘要: A dielectric waveguide designed to avoid the influence of reflection of electromagnetic waves at connected portions of dielectric strips and to have an improved characteristic. A third dielectric strip is inserted in a part of a connection section at which a first dielectric strip and a second dielectric strip are connected to each other, and the distances between the three connection planes in said connection section are determined so that a wave reflected at the connection plane between the first and third dielectric strips, a wave reflected at the connection plane between the first and second dielectric strips, and a wave reflected at the connection plane between the second and third dielectric strips are superposed with a phase difference of 2&pgr;/3 from each other. Alternatively or in addition, the distance between the first-second dielectric strip connection plane and the first-third dielectric strip connection plane is set to ⅙ of the guide wavelength of an electromagnetic wave propagating through the dielectric strips, and the distance between the first-second dielectric strip connection plane and the second-third dielectric strip connection plane is set to ⅙ of the guide wavelength. Reflected waves are thereby superposed in phase opposition to each other to cancel out. In this manner, propagation of a reflected signal to ports is limited.
