Abstract: Systems and methods for multi-modal user device authentication are disclosed. An example electronic device includes a first sensor, a microphone, a first camera, and a confidence analyzer to authenticate a subject as the authorized user in response to a user presence detection analyzer detecting a presence of the subject and one or more of (a) an audio data analyzer detecting a voice of an authorized user or (b) an image data analyzer detecting a feature of the authorized user. The example electronic device includes a processor to cause the electronic device to move from a first power state to a second power state in response to the confidence analyzer authenticating the user as the authorized user. The electronic device is to consume a greater amount of power in the second power state than the first power state.

Abstract: System and techniques for tracking caloric expenditure using sensor driven fingerprints are described herein. A set of outputs may be obtained from a plurality of sensors. A fingerprint may be generated using the set of outputs. The fingerprint may correspond to an activity observed by the plurality of sensors. The generated fingerprint may be compared to a set of fingerprints stored in a database. Each fingerprint of the set of fingerprints may correspond to a respective caloric expenditure. A caloric expenditure may be calculated for the activity based on the comparison. An exercise profile of a user may be updated using the caloric expenditure.

Abstract: The systems and methods disclosed herein provide determination of an orientation of a feature towards a reference target. As a non-limiting example, a system consistent with the present disclosure may include a processor, a memory, and a single camera affixed to the ceiling of a room occupied by a person. The system may analyze images from the camera to identify any objects in the room and their locations. Once the system has identified an object and its location, the system may prompt the person to look directly at the object. The camera may then record an image of the user looking at the object. The processor may analyze the image to determine the location of the user's head and, combined with the known location of the object and the known location of the camera, determine the direction that the user is facing. This direction may be treated as a reference value, or “ground truth.” The captured image may be associated with the direction, and the combination may be used as training input into an application.

Abstract: Techniques for gesture-based device connections are described. For example, a method may comprise receiving video data corresponding to motion of a first computing device, receiving sensor data corresponding to motion of the first computing device, comparing, by a processor, the video data and the sensor data to one or more gesture models, and initiating establishment of a wireless connection between the first computing device and a second computing device if the video data and sensor data correspond to gesture models for the same gesture. Abstract: The disclosed embodiments generally relate to methods, systems and apparatuses to provide ad hoc digital signage for public or private display. In certain embodiments, the disclosure provides dynamically formed digital signage. In one application, one or more drones are used to project the desired signage. In another application one or more drones are used to form a background to receive the projected image. In still another application, sensors are used to detect audience movement, line of sight or engagement level. The sensor information is then used to arrange the projecting drones or the surface-image drones to further signage presentation.
