Abstract:
A capacitive proximity sensor assembly comprises: (i) a capacitive proximity sensor (1) for mounting to a body for sensing external objects, the sensor comprising a dielectric substrate (2) having front and rear major surfaces which, in use of the sensor, face respectively outward from and towards the body; a sensor conductor (3) on the front major surface; and a guard conductor on at least one of the major surfaces to provide an electrical shield for the sensor conductor; and (ii) a cable (16) for transmitting electrical signals from the sensor (1) to an electronic control unit; the cable comprising a dielectric film substrate having, on a first major surface thereof, a first electrical conductor (13) that is connected to the sensor conductor (3) for transmitting electrical signals therefrom and, on both major surfaces thereof, an electrically-conductive layer (14) that is connected to the guard conductor to provide an electrical shield for the said first conductor (13).
Abstract:
A capacitive proximity sensor is described for mounting to a body for sensing external objects. The sensor comprises a dielectric film substrate (2) having front and rear major surfaces which, in use of the sensor, face respectively outward from and towards the body; a sensor conductor (6) on the front major surface, and a guard conductor (8) on the rear major surface to provide an electrical shield for the sensor conductor. The sensor is configured so that electrical contact can be made to the sensor conductor and to the guard conductor at the edge of the film substrate. In one embodiment, this is achieved through the provision of a tongue portion (5) which extends from a peripheral edge (4a) of a main part (4) of the substrate, and onto which the sensor and guard conductors extend to provide respective terminals (10, 12) by which external electrical connections can be made to the sensor.
Abstract:
A gauge has a face plate which includes indicia thereon to indicate specific values of a parameter. A laser system is disposed behind and/or in front of the face plate to project a beam onto the face plate to indicate the value of a parameter. A stepper motor moves the beam based upon the output of a sensor which monitors the parameter.
Abstract:
According to one aspect of the present invention, a liquid reductant tank for supplying liquid reductant to a selective catalytic reduction system is disclosed. The tank includes a tank cavity for holding a liquid reductant and being at least partially defined by one or more side walls; a liquid reductant supply line at least partially situated within the tank cavity and for communicating liquid reductant from the tank cavity to outside of the tank cavity; and a heating element situated at least partially within the liquid reductant supply line and for thawing frozen reductant situated within the supply line during cold start conditions to obtain liquid reductant for use in a selective catalytic reduction system.
Abstract:
A method for communicating packets in a network environment is provided that includes receiving a packet at a network element and identifying a sequence number included in the packet that correlates to awareness information associated with one or more adjacent network elements. A table included in the network element may be updated in order to account for the awareness information included within the packet that has not been accounted for by the network element. In cases where the awareness information included in the packet has already been accounted for, the packet may be ignored.
Abstract:
An animal diet and method of feeding an animal an amount of different pelleted feed compositions having different amounts of available energy per kilogram of the composition and a different specific ratio of kilocalories total available energy per gram amino acids throughout the animal lifecycles along with the different pelleted feed compositions and the methods of making those compositions that yield improved efficiencies in overall animal production methods.
Abstract:
A gauge of a vehicle instrument cluster includes a gauge defining a dial. A pointer is rotatably mounted in the instrument cluster and movable to a plurality of positions relative to the dial. A first scale of numbers is arranged sequentially around the dial and corresponds to a first range of vehicle speed. A second scale of numbers is arranged sequentially around the dial and corresponds to a second range of vehicle speed. The second scale of numbers corresponds to vehicle speeds that are faster than the first range of vehicle speeds and have like units. The first scale and the second scale of numbers are arranged in a radially offset relationship.
Abstract:
A mineral supplement is described herein that has a high mineral/nitrogen content and is capable of being formed as a pellet. The mineral supplement may comprise a hydrophobic component that includes a lubricant and a high melting point substance which may facilitate forming the mineral supplement as a pellet.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to methods and compositions designed for the treatment, management, or prevention of cancer, particularly metastatic cancer and cancers of T cell origin, and hyperproliferative diseases involving EphA2-expressing cells. The methods of the invention entail the use of a Listeria-based EphA2 vaccine. The invention also provides pharmaceutical compositions comprising one or more Listeria-based vaccines of the invention either alone or in combination with one or more other agents useful for cancer therapy. In certain aspects of the invention, the methods entail eliciting both CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell responses against EphA2 and/or EphA2-expressing cells.
Abstract:
An apparatus for communicating packets in a network environment is provided that includes a first network element that includes a first neighbor list, the first network element being coupled to a second network element and a third network element. The first network element is operable to receive a second neighbor list from the second network element and a third neighbor list from the third network element. The first network element is further operable to determine one or more overlaps provided by the second and third neighbor lists when compared to the first neighbor list, the first network element relaying an update that it receives based on the one or more overlaps.
