    Abstract: A method of determining image representative colors for an image comprising a plurality of image elements having color information associated therewith. Initially, the image elements are grouped into a plurality of image element groups on the basis of their colors. An initial representative color is then generated for each of the image element groups, the initial representative colors subsequently being clustered together into color clusters in a color space. Finally, an image representative color is determined based on each respective color cluster. Also shown is a method of using one or more of the image representative colors as a basis for providing one or more aesthetic color suggestions for a given image. A set of color selection rules is provided, and an aesthetic color suggested on the basis thereof.

    Abstract: Disclosed are Dpo4 DNA polymerase mutants with increased DNA synthesis processivity. The mutant enzymes, Dpo4 A181D and Dpo4 E63K, are constructed based on the wild-type Dpo4 derived from Sulfolobus solfataricus to obtain Dpo4DNA polymerase mutants with increased DNA processivity. The extension length of Dpo4 A181D and Dpo4 E63K are respectively increased by 25% and 18.8% than that of the wild-type Dpo4. The fidelity of Dpo4 A181D and wild-type Dpo4 are similar, and the fidelity of Dpo4 E63K is increased from that of the wild-type Dpo4. In summary, the mutants Dpo4 A181D and Dpo4 E63K obtained by the present invention have increased processivity compared to that of the wild-type Dpo4 DNA polymerase.

    Abstract: An adaptive screen encoding method comprising: using a computer, creating and storing, in computer memory, a plurality of conditions for use by a server configured to determine which of picture coding type to select; detecting a current picture by a sender for a content type including textual content, graphical content, and natural image content; determining a percentage of static macroblocks corresponding to the current picture; selecting the picture coding type based on the content type, the plurality of conditions, and the percentage of static macroblocks, wherein the method is performed by one or more special-purpose computing devices.
