Abstract: An introducer is provided for introducing a sensor into the body of a patient. The introducer connects to a sensor hub. When the sensor hub and introducer are connected, the introducer needle is exposed. When the sensor hub and introducer are disconnected, a needle cover and the needle move with respect to each other so that the needle cover substantially covers the needle, protecting a user from being injured by the needle.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to an insertion device that includes: a plunger coupled with a lock collar. The insertion device houses contents including: a striker including self-locking striker snap arm(s) where the striker is kept from firing by a striker spring captured between the plunger and the striker when the insertion device is in a cocked position; a sensor assembly; and a needle carrier that holds a piercing member, the needle carrier captured between the striker and a needle carrier spring where a self-releasing snap(s) keeps the needle carrier cocked, where the plunger prevents the self-releasing snap(s) from repositioning and releasing the needle carrier. The striker fires the needle carrier such that the self-locking striker snap arm(s) are positioned to allow the striker to snap down. The needle carrier is then retracted when the user releases the plunger and the piercing member is encapsulated within the insertion device.

Abstract: A pump for delivering a fluid includes a pump housing that defines at least one reservoir having a circumferentially open first end, a circumferentially closed second end and a chamber to receive the fluid. The pump includes a plunger assembly having at least one plunger arm and a cannula fluidly coupled to the plunger arm to dispense the fluid from the pump. The plunger arm is receivable within the first end of the reservoir, and the at least one plunger arm defining an internal conduit to receive the fluid from the at least one fluid reservoir. The internal conduit is fluidly coupled to the cannula. The plunger assembly is movable in a first direction relative to the pump housing to advance the plunger arm within the fluid reservoir to dispense the fluid from the fluid reservoir out of the pump via the cannula.

Abstract: A wearable infusion port for infusing a fluid includes a first housing that defines an inlet port to receive the fluid, and a second housing coupled to the first housing. The second housing is to be coupled to an anatomy. The wearable infusion port includes a valve assembly fluidly coupled to the inlet port, and the valve assembly is movable from a closed state to an opened state to dispense the fluid. The wearable infusion port includes a cannula assembly extending through the first housing and the second housing, and the cannula assembly includes a cannula fluidly coupled to the valve assembly. The cannula is to be coupled to the anatomy. The wearable infusion port includes a flow sensor fluidly coupled to the inlet port and the cannula. The flow sensor is fluidly coupled upstream from the cannula to observe an amount of fluid received by the cannula.

Abstract: An adhesive patch arrangement for a sensor includes a flexible patch, a sensor-affixing feature located in a sensor mounting region of the component-facing side of the flexible patch, the sensor-affixing feature securing the sensor to the flexible patch, and a device-affixing feature located in a device mounting region of the component-facing side of the flexible patch. The device-affixing feature secures a device to the flexible patch. The sensor mounting and device mounting regions are distinct and separate regions. The arrangement also includes a removable reinforcement liner adhered to, and covering, the device-affixing feature, and shaped to define a cutout area that partially surrounds the sensor-affixing feature. The arrangement also includes a removable backing liner adhered to, and covering, the adhesive skin-facing side of the flexible adhesive patch.

Abstract: A sensor set is provided for sensing of a body characteristic, such as glucose. The sensor set includes a mounting base for the sensor including a shim adapted to prevent pull up of the sensor and a connector to connect to the mounting base and has an improved structure for connecting the mounting base to the connector. The connector may contain sensor electronics for wired or wireless communication to an external monitor or display. The mounting base includes latch arms and the connector adapted to fit and lock into latch recesses on the connector and includes anti-rotation arms adapted to fit into anti-rotation arm recesses on the connector.

Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to medical devices that include a transmitter assembly positioned on top of a sensor assembly. A sensor assembly includes a sensor base having a bottom surface and a top surface having an interface. The interface accommodates a sensor stack that includes at least one sensor head having electrical contact pads connected to an elastomeric connector. The sensor assembly further includes a mounting base having a first side that attaches to the bottom surface of the sensor base, and a second side that adheres to a patient's skin. A transmitter assembly includes a transmitter shell and a transmitter cap having an interface that engages with the sensor base. Also, the transmitter assembly includes electrical contacts disposed on the transmitter cap that connect with the electrical contact pad(s) of the sensor assembly.
