    摘要: A force/flash pressure sensor utilizes a stack of annular rings of a magnetoelastic material. One major stack surface is supported at a plurality of points having substantially equal angular displacement therebetween. A member, moving along the axis of the ring stack responsive to an axial force, or pressure, to be measured, presses a different set of points against the opposite stack surface, to distort the ring stack and alter the magnetic flux density saturation magnitude thereof. The plurality of points in abutment with each of the opposite major stack surfaces is advantageously equal; a number of different configurations for applying force (pressure) along the axis of the ring stack are described.

    摘要: Control apparatus for producing a control signal indicating that a physical variable has reached a userselected level. A transducer generates for the control apparatus electrical pulses having a repetition period which is a function of the physical variable. The control apparatus repeatedly counts clock pulses in response to the transducer pulses to provide a first digital signal representative of the repetition period of the transducer pulses. The apparatus also repeatedly generates a second digital signal corresponding to the user-selected level of the physical variable by adding to a preset binary code a binary amount related to a userselected voltage. The first and second digital signals are compared to produce the control signal for a switching circuit which responds thereto. The comparison is overriden if an analysis of most significant bits of the first digital signal shows that the physical variable varies beyond a predetermined level. In control apparatus for a heat transfer system the comparison is made with a high fluid pressure level, and a low charge pressure level, as well as a userselected low fluid pressure level. Subject to predetermined time delays, the system is actuated when the high pressure is reached, and deactuated when the selected low pressure is reached. Abnormally low fluid charge is indicated when an excessive rate of change from the high pressure level to the low charge pressure level repeatedly occurs. An automotive air conditioning system and methods for controlling such a system are also described.

    摘要: A low cost hook-on ammeter for consumer use includes a split core to be clipped around a conductor. Secondary turns on the core actuate a liquid crystal digital display to indicate alternating current amplitude in the conductor. The liquid crystal display segments may be connected to individual taps on the secondary winding, or to taps on a resistive divider network connected across the entire secondary winding. As current in the conductor increases, secondary voltage increases, turning on an increasing number of segments of the liquid crystal display accordingly.

    摘要: The contacts of a power relay are shunted by a gateable semiconductor device to assist in the commutation of contact-destroying arcs upon making and breaking of the power relay contacts; current-detection apparatus, such as a current-sensing transformer and the like, are utilized in the conductors connecting the relay contacts and the gateable switching device to an input from an A.C. source. Control electronics receive the outputs of both current-sensing apparatus to gate the shunting device into conduction during relay contact closure and separation, in a manner to minimize the current passing through the shunting device and therefore to minimize the energy dissipated therein.

    摘要: A temperature-to-frequency converter circuit of the type utilizing a pair of threshold switches connected across a timing capacitor for controlling a circuit output voltage to higher and lower magnitudes when the capacitor voltage respectively reaches higher and lower levels, has a linear conductance--vs.--temperature network between the output and the timing capacitance. The circuit operates as an astable multivibrator having an output frequency linearly related to temperature. The output waveform is an essential symmetrical squarewave, facilitating use with low-cost counting and display circuitry and providing a reduced level of electromagnetic interference.
