Abstract:
One or more pairs of magnet assemblages (14 and 16) are provided with magnetized segments (21-30) arranged in a Halbach-like array. The magnet assemblages (14 and 16) define a gap (18) through which magnetic data storage media (12) pass in a direction (20) across the segments (21-30). The magnetized sides (36) of the magnet assemblages (14 and 16) face each other thereby creating strong magnetic fields which degauss the magnetic data storage media (12) passing through the gap (18).
Abstract:
A system for strengthening containers in a high-speed filling operation is disclosed. The system includes a solenoid-driven injector apparatus positioned at an angle to the containers being filled. The injector apparatus includes a chamber connected via an intake line to a supply tank. A solenoid is adapted to open an injector valve, allowing liquefied gas within a chamber to forcibly flow through an outflow line into the container. The solenoid is also adapted to close the injector valve, thereby blocking the liquefied gas within the chamber from entering the outflow line. The injector apparatus also includes a heater positioned adjacent to the outflow line and an adjustment device for the injector valve.
Abstract:
In order, in the case of an implant for vertebral body fusion having a support body, which comprises two opposite-lying support surfaces for application against the opposing end faces of the vertebral bodies to be fused and is insertable into the gap between the two adjacent vertebral bodies, to achieve an optimum fixing of the supporting body in the intervertebral space, it is proposed that the supporting body has at least one location channel, which extends between the support surfaces and is open at its top and bottom side, and that there is insertable into the location channel a fixing element provided with an external projection and guided in the location channel so as to be rotatable about its longitudinal axis, which fixing element once inserted into the location channel projects out of the open location channel in that it protrudes at the top and bottom side of the supporting body beyond the support surfaces.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a precompression pump which includes a feature for opening the outlet valve at the bottom of the pump stroke, to thereby evacuate air and liquid from the pump chamber. The pump includes a gravity-biased inlet valve and a spring-biased outlet valve. Elevated pressure in the pump chamber causes the outlet valve to open against the bias of the outlet valve spring. At least one of the outlet valve or the inlet valve has an engagement end which engages the other valve at the bottom of the pump stroke, to thereby open the outlet valve against the bias of the outlet valve spring and exhaust air and liquid from the pump chamber to the spray nozzle. In this way, the pump chamber is evacuated so that liquid can be drawn into the pump chamber from the bottle or container. The present invention uses a simple design which is easy to mold, does not require close tolerancing, and which operates effectively without the need for difficult-to-mold friction fits.
Abstract:
A precompression pump is disclosed with a sliding inlet valve seal. In a first embodiment, the valve seal has sealing and retention surfaces which interact with sealing and retention surfaces on a bead on the inner wall of the pump chamber, to seal the pump inlet and retain the inlet seal respectively. In a second embodiment, the seal has friction tabs which engage the outer wall of the pump chamber. On the upstroke of the piston, these tabs engage a bead on the inner wall of the pump chamber, causing the tabs to rotate about a hinge, increasing the outer diameter of the seal. The result is improved frictional engagement of the seal with the inner wall, resulting in improved retention of the seal.
Abstract:
An adjustable hospital gown is designed to cover the bodies of users of varying shape and size. The gown has a torso-covering garment, a pair of backflaps, and an adjustable fastener. The torso-covering garment is used to cover the front side of the user's body. The pair of backflaps are connected along backflap seams that are positioned on opposite sides of the torso-covering garment. As a result, the pair of backflaps can be transitioned between an opened and a closed configuration. The adjustable fastener is connected in between one of the backflaps and the torso-covering garment such that the backflap can be repositioned to cinch the gown around the body of the user. By connecting the adjustable fastener to various anchor points, the size of the gown can be modified to accommodate user's of varying shape.
Abstract:
A merchandise display security tether includes a mounting base, a releasable adhesive for releasably attaching the mounting base to an article of merchandise, and a housing configured to be positioned over the mounting base and a releasing portion of the releasable adhesive. The housing is secured to the mounting base by a tamper-proof fastener to prevent access to the releasing portion of the releasable adhesive. The security tether further includes a security cable having a first end attached to the housing and a second end for attachment to a merchandise display. The housing is removable by a special tool to expose the releasing portion of the releasable adhesive. The releasing portion is pulled to release the mounting base and the article of merchandise without damage to the merchandise and without leaving an adhesive residue on the merchandise.
Abstract:
A merchandise display security device for an article of merchandise having an audio cord includes an electrical control circuit for producing a sense loop in the audio cord, monitoring a non-alarming state and an alarming state of the sense loop, and activating an alarm in the event that the sense loop changes from the non-alarming state to the alarming state. In one embodiment, the device includes a security sensor adapted for being attached to a media player. The security sensor has an audio jack for receiving an audio plug on the audio cord and includes an audio connector cord having an audio plug for engaging an audio jack on the media player. The security sensor may be electrically connected to an alarming base by a sense cord and include a power adapter cord for providing power to the media player through the sense cord and the power adapter cord.
Abstract:
A thermostat (10) includes a housing (11) having a control panel (13) with a plurality of manually selectable input elements or input keys (15) and a display panel (17) for displaying various functions of the programmable thermostat. The programmable thermostat also includes a temperature sensor (18), a microprocessor (19) having memory for storing a default program set of default temperature and time values and a desired program set of desired temperature and time values. The microprocessor may compare the desired program set to the default program set in order to calculate the efficiency of a HVAC system. The calculated efficiency is then displayed graphically on the display panel.
The thermostat also includes a “SAVE AWAY” feature or mode of operation. The SAVE AWAY mode is intended to be used so that the HVAC system operates as if the user is away from the house through the manual operation of the SAVE AWAY input key, even though the normal schedule program indicates that the user should be “home”. In use, the SAVE AWAY mode of operation overrides the program set associated with a normal schedule. The SAVE AWAY mode typically operates the cooling system of the HVAC system at an inputted desired temperature which is higher than that associated with the normal “schedule”, and operates the heating system of the HVAC system at an inputted desired temperature which is lower than that associated with the normal “schedule”. The overriding of the normal schedule results in the operation of the HVAC system at a more efficient level for a select period of time.
