Abstract: A method of operating a base station includes determining a schedule associated with transmission by the base station of a Positioning Reference Signal (PRS) on a plurality of directional beams, the plurality of directional beams having directions corresponding to at least a portion of a plurality of configurable beam directions, the schedule being based on a coordination of the PRS transmission by the base station with PRS transmission on directional beams from at least one other base station; and transmitting the PRS on each of the plurality of directional beams based on the determined schedule.

Abstract: Positioning reference signals are transmitted in a downlink direction from base stations (200) of a wireless communication network to a wireless communication device (100) or in an uplink direction from the wireless communication device (100) to base stations (200) of the wireless communication network. According to a frequency hop pattern, a radio interface of the wire-less communication device is switched between multiple different frequency ranges. In this way, the wireless communication device (100) can receive the downlink positioning reference signals on multiple different frequencies defined by the frequency hop pattern or send the uplink positioning reference signals on multiple different frequencies defined by the frequency hop pattern.

Abstract: Embodiments improve User Equipment (UE) positioning accuracy in a mobile communication system by providing for a UE configured to listen for Positioning Reference Signal (PRS) transmissions within an operating bandwidth around Direct Current (DC) sub-carrier and at least one non-PRS transmission including, for example, a CRS or PSS/SSS; receiving, at the UE, PRS and non-PRS(s) transmissions transmitted from base stations within the operating bandwidth; performing, at the UE, Time of Arrival (TOA) measurements for each of the plurality of base stations, wherein the TOA measurements are determined based on the at least one non-PRS transmission; obtaining Observed Time Difference of Arrival (OTDOA) measurements by subtracting TOA for the plurality of base stations from a TOA for a reference base station, and transmitting, from the UE to a Location Server (LS), the OTDOA measurements, wherein the LS performs a positioning estimation of the UE based on the OTDOA measurements.

Abstract: A method of operating a terminal device to communicate with a network infrastructure equipment in a wireless telecommunications system using radio resources comprising a narrowband carrier supported within a wider system frequency bandwidth of the wireless telecommunications system, wherein the method comprises: establishing initial frequencies for radio resources comprising the narrowband carrier; receiving configuration signalling from the network infrastructure equipment providing an indication of a frequency shift to apply to the initial frequencies for the radio resources comprising the narrowband carrier; establishing shifted frequencies for the radio resources comprising the narrowband carrier by applying the indicated frequency shift to the initial frequencies; and communicating with the network infrastructure equipment using the radio resources for the narrowband carrier with the shifted frequencies.
