    Abstract: Accordingly the embodiments herein provide a method for provisioning Minimum System Information (MSI) for User Equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system. The method includes decoding Primary Broadcast Channel (PBCH) to acquire a first Master Information Block (MIB) periodically transmitted by base station. Further, the method includes determining to perform one of bar a cell from which the first MIB is acquired for a pre-determined period of time and acquire second MIB transmitted on Secondary Broadcast Channel (SBCH) by base station based on cell barring indication received in the first MIB. Furthermore, the method includes transmitting a request message to the base station to obtain at least one SI block of the OSI. In some embodiments, the method includes receiving a list of system configuration indexes (SCIs) and corresponding configuration of SI blocks, from the base station based on SI storage capability of the UE indicated to the base station.

    Abstract: Embodiments herein disclose a method for performing a handover in a wireless communication network. The method includes performing, by a network, a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) version change for one or more radio bearers to switch from a first PDCP entity to a second PDCP entity. Further, the method includes receiving, by a User Equipment (UE), at least one of a PDCP version change indication and security key change indication from the network. Furthermore, the method includes performing, by the UE, a PDCP version change to switch from the first PDCP entity to the second PDCP entity for a configured radio bearer in response to receiving the PDCP version change indication.

    Abstract: A method and an apparatus are provided for monitoring a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system. The UE receives a system information block (SIB) from a network. The UE identifies at least one downlink (DL) period based on a first time division duplex (TDD) uplink (UL)/DL configuration included in the SIB; monitoring, by the UE, the PDCCH during the at least one DL period using a discontinuous reception (DRX) operation. The UE obtains information about at least one second TDD UL/DL configuration for one or more time intervals from the monitored PDCCH. The monitoring of the PDCCH comprises monitoring the PDCCH in an active time of a DRX cycle. The active time includes a time when the UE performs continuous reception.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a pre-5th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4th-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). A method for securing unicast message communication is provided. The method includes sending, by a user equipment (UE), a request-message for resuming radio resource control (RRC) connection to a base station, wherein the request message comprises a first-parameter defining “resume cause”. A response pertaining to at least one of network-release or network-resumption is received by the UE, wherein the response comprises a second parameter defining “resume cause”. Based on a successful-mapping between the first parameter and the second parameter, the response is acknowledged by the UE. However, for example, in case of network-rejection of the request due to network congestion, an RRC reject message comprising a first message authentication code is computed by the base station based on a stored network security context and communicated to the UE. Thereafter, a second message authentication code is mapped by the UE with the first message authentication code.
