A hot-dip galvanized steel sheet is produced by rough rolling a steel, finish rolling the rough rolled steel at a temperature of Ar3 point or more, coiling the finish rolled steel at a temperature of 700° C. or less, and hot-dip galvanizing the coiled steel at a pre-plating heating temperature of Ac1 to Ac3. A continuous hot-dip galvanizing operation is performed by soaking a pickled strip at a temperature of 750 to 850° C., cooling the soaked strip to a temperature range of 600° C. or less at a cooling rate of 1 to 50° C. per second, hot-dip galvanizing the cooled strip, and cooling the galvanized strip so that the residence time at 400 to 600° C. is within 200 seconds. The steel sheet has a structure consisting essentially of ferrite and martensite.

A method of manufacturing a spline shaft, comprising ironing a hollow stock by cold forging and forming splines in a desired portion of said hollow stock by cold forging by using its work harden state. This method makes it possible to reduce the weight of a product by using a hollow stock, and to prevent buckling of the material of the hollow stock during the formation of splines owing to work-hardening caused by the ironing. Further, a predetermined root strength can be ensured without requiring induction hardening. Accordingly, a reduction in weight is achieved, and the production speed and yield are improved.

A comparison circuit compares the correlation values with a predetermined threshold value, and if a condition that the threshold value is larger than the correlation value is satisfied in each of eighty (80) percents or more detection blocks, the integrated color data stored in the representative color memory is registered as a representative color of an object, and otherwise, no registration is performed. In a second registration determination mode set by the registration determining switch, the correlator evaluates correlation values on the basis of the integrated color data of the specific detection block and integrated color data of four (4) detection block.

A method of forming an internal spline shaft, comprising forming splines on an inner circumferential portion of a hollow stock by cold forging in such a way that a clearance "a" between an inner diameter of the hollow stock and an outer diameter of a tool guide portion, a difference "b" between a reduced diameter of a forming land and the inner diameter of the hollow stock, and a forming-land approach angle .theta. satisfy respectively specific relationships. By this method, products having internal long splines can be obtained in a high yield by cold forging method.

The controller sets a smaller incremental fuel supply rate with increasing engine speed to prevent excessive fuel supply to the engine during acceleration. A fuel supply corrector, a correction inhibitor, and a correction inhibitor canceller are provided for improved acceleration performance regardless of the mode of acceleration. An acceleration mode discriminator and an incremental fuel rate supplier provide proper fuel control even with increasing acceleration. The controller can use first and second control maps for controlling fuel supply. A map discriminator provides for a smooth changeover between maps.

An electronic control unit changes from sequential fuel injection to simultaneous fuel injection without degradation of engine performance. An ignition controller has first, and third pulse generators generating pulses with rotation of the crankshaft and camshaft, respectively, and a second pulse generator pulsing at a phase angle with respect to the crankshaft. An ignition timer controls ignition timing based on the pulses from the first and second pulse generators, and a fuel injection timer controls fuel injection based on the pulses from the first and third pulse generators.

An oxygen sensor of a critical current type is held between a gas under test and a reference gas, in the vicinity of which a heater is located for heating up the oxygen sensor in a sensor activating temperature range. A first voltage is applied for a positive bias control to the oxygen sensor during a first period, and a second voltage is applied for a negative bias control thereto during a second period. Electric current flowing through the oxygen sensor is detected during the first period in order to detect the oxygen concentration in the gas under test. The current value is also detected during the second period in order to detect and maintain constant the internal electric resistance of the oxygen sensor by controlling the heater heating output.
