    摘要: Method and apparatus are provided for determining pressure using a non-intrusive sensor that is easily attachable to the plumbing of a pressurized system. A bent mode implementation and a hoop mode implementation of the invention are disclosed. Each of these implementations is able to non-intrusively measure pressure while fluid is flowing. As well, each implementation may be used to measure mass flow rate simultaneously with pressure. An ultra low noise control system is provided for making pressure measurements during gas flow. The control system includes two tunable digital bandpass filters with center frequencies that are responsive to a clock frequency. The clock frequency is divided by a factor of N to produce a driving vibrational signal for resonating a metal sensor section.

    摘要: A high efficiency, multi-stage fuel cell system method and apparatus is provided. The fuel cell system is comprised of multiple fuel cell stages, whereby the temperatures of the fuel and oxidant gas streams and the percentage of fuel consumed in each stage are controlled to optimize fuel cell system efficiency. The stages are connected in a serial, flow-through arrangement such that the oxidant gas and fuel gas flowing through an upstream stage is conducted directly into the next adjacent downstream stage. The fuel cell stages are further arranged such that unspent fuel and oxidant laden gases too hot to continue within an upstream stage because of material constraints are conducted into a subsequent downstream stage which comprises a similar cell configuration, however, which is constructed from materials having a higher heat tolerance and designed to meet higher thermal demands. In addition, fuel is underutilized in each stage, resulting in a higher overall fuel cell system efficiency.

In one embodiment, a backup power system constructed according to the present invention includes: (1) an enclosure, (2) an engine, having an air inlet, located within the enclosure, (3) an alternator, coupled to and driven by the engine, that converts mechanical power derived from the engine into AC electrical power and (4) a baffle, located within the enclosure and about a portion of the engine to block direct fluid communication from within the alternator to within the engine, that guides cooling air received into the enclosure sequentially through the alternator to cool the alternator, around the baffle and the engine, through the air inlet and into the engine to cool the engine and through an outlet port of the baffle, the baffle thereby establishing a serial path within the enclosure for the cooling air.

    摘要: Frequent cleaning, maintenance, and or replacement of spray guns is necessary for good performance, but cleaning is often neglected because of difficulty in reaching the crucial parts to be cleaned. The spray gun of this invention has a fluid flow assembly which may be readily removed to facilitate cleaning. In addition, this spray gun has an external fluid flow assembly packing gland adjustment nut, which allows frequent convenient adjustment of the packing gland without disassembly of the spray gun. This allows the user to maintain free movement of the needle valve shaft while preventing leakage of fluid into the spray gun body.

    摘要: A coal-fired gas turbine engine is provided with an on-site coal preparation and engine feeding arrangement. With this arrangement, relatively large dry particles of coal from an on-site coal supply are micro-pulverized and the resulting dry, micron-sized, coal particulates are conveyed by steam or air into the combustion chamber of the engine. Thermal energy introduced into the coal particulates during the micro-pulverizing step is substantially recovered since the so-heated coal particulates are fed directly from the micro-pulverizer into the combustion chamber.

    摘要: A high volume, low pressure air system for atomizing a fluid, such as paint, includes, among other things, a variable jet venturi induction pump located within a sealed low pressure air tank for holding a relatively large volume of low pressure air generated by the induction pump which is coupled to a source of compressed air as well as ambient air and having a plurality of outlets which are adapted to be coupled to and feed low pressure air for powering a respective plurality of individual atomizing devices, such as spray guns, with the air tank being located a predetermined distance away from the atomizing devices so that overspray produced thereby is prevented from being fed along with the ambient air into the induction pump. The system also controls the supply of compressed air and can be equipped with a compressed air driven intake fan for turbo charging the ambient air fed to the jet venturi induction pump.
