A deep drilling or deep well pump system includes a driving motor, a driven component connected to the driving motor, and a hydrodynamic retarder. The hydrodynamic retarder includes a rotor and stator blade wheel. The rotor blade wheel and the stator blade wheel together form a toroidal working space continuously filled with a working medium during operation of the deep drilling device or the deep well pump device. The rotor blade wheel is continuously connected at least indirectly to the driving motor. The blading of the rotor and stator blade wheel is designed so that, owing to the blade direction in the drive mode, the rotor blade wheel revolves freely. During the occurrence of restoring forces on the driven components, the retarder operates in a braking manner.

The present invention is directed to a method of packaging thermoplastic compositions. Preferably, the steps of the method may be employed in a continuous process. The method is especially suited for thermoplastic compositions such as pressure sensitive hot melt adhesives. The pressure sensitive thermoplastic composition may be packaged in an inclusion meltable film material wherein the film can be melted and blended with the hot melt adhesive during use, or alternatively, the composition may be contained in a drum. Alternatively the thermoplastic composition may be coated with a pelletizing aid.

The invention concerns a method and device for binarization of pixel data in which a number of black-and-white binary images each having binarization characteristics of different degrees of sensitivity is formed from a set of grey scale value binary data. A dimension S is calculated for each of these binary images, according to the equation ##EQU1## where FS designates the number of black binary pixels and U designates the number of black-and-white transitions. A selection of the binary image for which the dimension S is at its maximum is optimally carried out.

An apparatus for heat welding together thermoplastic components and work-pieces comprises a heating unit and a carriage unit. The heating unit is axially movable to contact and melt part of the work-piece to a sufficiently tacky state for the component to be fused thereto. The carriage unit releasably retains the component and is axially movable to move a component contact surface against the melted part of the work-piece, mounting the component thereto. The carriage unit is pivotally movable about the axis, whereby the initial contact of the component against a mis-aligned work-piece causes the component and the carriage unit to pivot so that the component contact surface is re-aligned with the melted part of the work-piece.

A generally flat composite structure has building blocks in the form of a plurality of multipurpose plastic building components. Each of the components includes an encompassing outer frame having a lateral surface and an interior. At least one coupling device is disposed at the lateral surface for joining two adjacent building components. Crosswise members and lengthwise members divide the interior of the outer frame into a grid of individual openings. The outer frame and the crosswise and lengthwise members are formed of plastic waste having been previously comminuted, then melted down and then injected or cast into a suitable mold. A method for laying out the components includes seeding or grassing down the components individually or in the composite structure before laying out the components, and then laying out the components in a seeded or grassed down (vegetated) state.

The solder powder must have a particle size of 5 to 50 .mu.m, where 55 to 70% of the particles are smaller than the particle size at the maximum on the particle size distribution curve. In addition, the ratio between the average particle size of the solder powder and the density of the solder powder must be between 0.1 and 20.

Wear-resistant hard material layers are prepared on a metal support by applying onto said support a mixture of hard material particles, solder particles and organic binding agents and thereafter soldering the layer by heating. The mixture thus obtained can be applied by means of immersing, screen printing, brushing, spraying or spreading. The stable suspension required for the above steps is prepared by homogeneously grinding the particles together to a particle size from 1 to 20 .mu.m and adding an organic solvent to the binding agent.

A crystallizing apparatus particularly for use with undercooled melts. Crystallizing is effected on the cooling conveyor belt in a thick layer. A precrystallizer comprises at least two rolls arranged above the cooling conveyor and rotating in the same direction. A shear gap is formed between the at least two rolls. A melt is applied to an uppermost one of the at least two rolls in a thin layer. In the course of the path followed by the melt over the at least two rolls, shearing forces are generated within the area of the shear gap, which enhance the nucleation. A further enhancement of nucleation is obtained by cooling the at least two rolls, so that relatively large volumes of the melt may be crystallized per unit time in the crystallizing apparatus without the need for the addition of supplemental seed crystals to the melt. The amount of melt in the precrystallizer is very small.
