A semi-persistent resource scheduling (SPS) allocation of a user equipment is deactivated in an LTE-based mobile communication system without requiring changes to the Physical layer-to-MAC layer interface and/or changes to PDCCH formats agreed by the 3GPP. A combination of NDI value and MCS index is defined that commands release of SPS resources. An alternative solution proposed defines a special transport block size that when signaled in a PDCCH commands release of SPS resources.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for computing and/or utilizing mutual information based link metrics for a link in a wireless mesh network are disclosed. In one embodiment, one or more mutual information values are computed for a link between a transmitter of a first network node and a receiver of a second network node in a wireless mesh network. Each of the one or more mutual information values is computed for a different hypothesized transmission mode for the link. One or more link metrics for the link are computed as a function of the mutual information values, where each link metric is computed based on a different one of the one or more mutual information values. In this manner, a link metric is computed for each of the one or more hypothesized transmission modes for the link. At least one of the link metrics are then provided to a routing update module.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for link adaptation for a multi-hop route in a wireless mesh network are disclosed. In one embodiment, a wireless mesh network includes network nodes in a route through the wireless mesh network. The network nodes determine a bottleneck information flow rate for the route based on backward propagation of information indicative of a tentative bottleneck information flow rate for the route from an ending network node to a starting network node through one or more intermediate network nodes. A target information flow rate for the route that is less than or equal to the bottleneck information flow rate for the route is determined. A Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) and, in some embodiments, a transmission mode is determined for each network node in the route other than the ending network node based on forward propagation of information indicative of the target information flow rate for the route.

The invention relates to a method for estimating performance in a mobile network, a method for generating a performance map, use of such methods, a network management system, and a network node in the mobile network for performing the methods. The exemplary method including receiving localized user equipment measurements from a user equipment in the mobile network, including the user equipment measurements in sets and determining at least one antenna characteristics model for the set of user equipment measurements. A path loss model is determined for the user equipment measurements. A localized performance measurement is determined by deducting an estimated antenna impact from the estimated path loss for the user equipment measurement. The operations are repeated to generate a spatial performance map for the mobile network, wherein updates of the spatial performance map are based on further user equipment measurements from the user equipment in the mobile network.

The method comprises estimating (304) a parameter value, related to a number of unsuccessful network connection attempts made by one or more user equipment (120) during a measurement period, and/or a number of dropped user equipment connections to the network node (110) during the measurement period. Abstract:
A transmission apparatus controls a transport format for retransmission of data packets transmitted uplink to a receiving apparatus via at least one data channel using an automatic repeat request (ARQ) protocol. A transmitter transmits an uplink data packet via the data channel to the receiving apparatus, and a receiver receives first information along with second information from the receiving apparatus. The first information is used for determination whether to perform a retransmission of the uplink data packet at the transmission apparatus, and the second information indicates a transport format for the retransmission. The transmitter transmits the retransmission from the transmission apparatus to the receiving apparatus according to the transport format indicated in the second information element using a transmission timing based on the ARQ protocol.

A method and apparatus for digital down conversion and demodulation of a radio frequency (RF) signal are disclosed. A sampling frequency for sampling the RF signal is chosen, based on a bandwidth and a safety margin, so that a bandwidth of the sampled signal falls substantially within a predetermined frequency zone. The sampled signal may be digitally demodulated at a demodulation frequency selected to be substantially equal to a baseband alias of a carrier frequency of the signal.
Abstract:
Methods may be providing for signal synchronization at a wireless terminal communicating with a radio access network. For example, a command may be received from the radio access network, and the command may be to add a first carrier on a first frequency as a link for communications from the radio access network to the wireless terminal. Responsive to receiving the command to add the first carrier, the first carrier may be synchronized and/or configured using signals of a second carrier on a second frequency different than the first frequency. Related wireless terminals, network nodes, and network node methods are also discussed.

A method and transmission apparatus transmit broadcast system information in a mobile communication system. Further, a method and mobile terminal receive the broadcast system information. An improved method for broadcasting broadcast system information maps different partitions of broadcast system information to a shared transport channel or a broadcast transport channel for transmission. The mapping may take into account parameters inherent to the mobile terminals to which the broadcast system information is to be transmitted and/or parameters inherent to the different partitions of broadcast system information.
Abstract:
Method and arrangement in a base station for providing feedback to user equipments in a cell concerning the reception status of data received from the user equipments. The base station and the user equipments are comprised in a wireless communication system, adapted for contention based transmissions. The method comprises sending a contention based grant to a plurality of user equipments within the cell, receiving data from any user equipment and verifying if the data is correctly received. Also, the method comprises sending feedback to any user equipment that has used the contention based grant, wherein the feedback comprises an ACK, if it is verified that data has been correctly received from at least one user equipment and the feedback comprises a NACK if it is verified that data has not been correctly received from any user equipment. Also, a corresponding method and arrangement in a user equipment is described.
