摘要: A patient interface for sealed delivery of a flow of air at a continuously positive pressure with respect to ambient air pressure to an entrance to the patient's airways including at least entrance of a patient's nares to ameliorate sleep disordered breathing may include a seal-forming structure comprising a foam undercushion and a textile membrane for contact with the patient's face; a positioning and stabilising structure to maintain the seal-forming structure in sealing contact with an area surrounding an entrance to the patient's airways while maintaining a therapeutic pressure at the entrance to the patient's airways; and a plenum chamber pressurised at a pressure above ambient pressure in use.

The breathing circuit includes an airflow conduit configured to receive gas at an input end and configured to deliver the gas to a patient at an output end, a heating element disposed inside the airflow conduit configured to heat the gas inside the airflow conduit between the input end and the output end and a heat shield disposed between the heating element and an outside surface of the airflow conduit such that the heat shield prevents heat energy loss from within the airflow conduit.

摘要: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for controlling a patient's body temperature and in particular for inducing therapeutic hypothermia. Various embodiments of the system are described. The system includes: a source of breathing gas, which may be in the form of a compressed breathing gas mixture; a heat exchanger or other heating and/or cooling device; and a breathing interface, such as a breathing mask or tracheal tube. Optionally, the system may include additional features, such as a mechanical respirator, a nebulizer for introducing medication into the breathing gas, a body temperature probe and a feedback controller. The system can use air or a specialized breathing gas mixture, such as He/O2 or SF/O2 to increase the heat transfer rate. In addition, the system may include an ice particle generator for introducing fine ice particles into the flow of breathing gas to further increase the heat transfer rate.

摘要: The breathing assistance apparatus of the present invention includes a manifold that is provided with or retrofittable to gases supply and humidifying devices. The manifold allows gases from an oxygen concentrator to be combined with the flow through a gases supply and humidifying device, most usually air The combined output of oxygen and other breathing gases (air) is then humidified. The breathing assistance apparatus and manifold of the present invention provides a safe method to add oxygen to the input air stream of a gases supply and humidifying device and reduces the amount of accumulation of oxygen within the gases supply device, reducing fire risk should sparking occur within the device.

The device may further include a heater adapter unit to connect heating systems in CPAP devices while distributing ozone to sanitize the CPAP device in accordance with the present invention.

摘要: The present invention provides for an improved method of determining a water out condition in a humidified gases supply apparatus. The method includes a two step process including a primary determination of a water out condition and a secondary determination of a water out condition. This primary determination is made during observation of the normal operation of the apparatus. During the secondary determination the method takes temporary control over the humidifying part of the apparatus. The secondary determination confirms or contradicts the primary determination.

A nasal cannula for delivery of respiratory gases includes at least one nasal insert and at least one flange coupled to the at least one nasal insert where the at least one flange extends in a radial direction from the at least one nasal insert is provided. In another aspect of the embodiment, the at least one flange is adapted to fit within the nostril of a patient. In another aspect of the embodiment, the at least one flange is a lobulated flange.
