Abstract:
In an ion-exchange separation system, a single regeneration column provides for separation of anion and cation resins and the regeneration of both cation and anion resins with a very low level of cross-contamination. After regeneration most of the anion layer in the column is withdrawn, and most of the cation layer is withdrawn, but a portion of each layer adjacent to the interface between the layers remains in the column, to isolate these cross-contaminated portions from the regenerated resins. The withdrawn, regenerated anion and cation resins are placed back into the working vessel.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing mobile or temporary water treatment involving ion exchange resins includes a service center, one or more treatment vehicles, a resin transfer hub and one or more resin transport vehicles. The service center can be used to regenerate one or more types of ion exchange resins. The treatment vehicle carries water treatment equipment including a tank holding ion exchange resin. The resin transfer hub facilitates moving resin between a treatment vehicle and a resin transport vehicle. The resin transport vehicle is adapted for carrying resin by one or more of land, sea and air between the resin forwarding center and the service center. In operation, a treatment vehicle brings resin requiring regeneration to the resin transfer hub, where it is emptied and then re-filled with regenerated resin. Resin requiring regeneration is transferred to a resin transport vehicle for transport to the service center. The resin transport vehicle is re-filled there with regenerated resin, which is taken back to the resin transfer hub for transferred to a treatment vehicle.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a water softening device including: a resin chamber which has an ion exchange resin and softens hard water passing through the ion exchange resin; and electrodes which are arranged by placing the resin chamber therebetween and apply voltages to the resin chamber so as to soften the hard water, and which regenerates the ion exchange resin, wherein the ion exchange resin is a slightly acidic cation exchange resin and/or a weakly alkaline anion exchange resin. The present invention provides the water softening device capable of easily regenerating the ion exchange resin and repeating the softening-regenerating without using chemicals or the like while maintaining the performance of softening water, thereby enabling a continuous use thereof.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to water treatment, in particular to a process for the removal of contaminants in a raw water source where the contaminants consist of organic species and inorganic species.
Abstract:
Device for the removal of ions from a polar liquid, e.g. water, including at least one compartment which includes at least one inlet for an entering polar liquid flow and at least one outlet for an outgoing deionized liquid flow, in which the compartment an electrochemically regenerable ion-exchange material fills a zone through which zone a liquid flow is able to pass, the device including one sensor of at least one dimensional change of the ion-exchange material. The sensor can include a photo-sensor or a sensor of mechanical stress. Preferably an apparatus connected to the sensor is able to analyze this dimensional change and to control the electric current. Also disclosed is a method of using the device, whereby the electrical current applied to the device is controlled according to the expansion of the resin.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for producing deionized water by passing water to be treated through a deionizing and water treatment system having carbon filtration and beds of packed ion exchange resins, specifically including beds of mixed anion resins, so that sediment and impurity ions are removed as adsorbed on the ion exchange sites of the resins and a method of regenerating the ion exchange resins after having its ion-exchanging and adsorbing abilities lowered.
