    Abstract: In a pneumatic tire of the type which consists of a pair of right and left beads; a pair of right and left side walls continuing the beads, respectively, and a tread interposed between the side walls, and in which a carcass cord layer is spread between the beads, and at least two layers consisting of a belt reinforcing layer whose reinforcing cords have a cord angle of from 15.degree. to 30.degree. with respect to the circumferential direction of the tire and a belt reinforcing layer whose reinforcing cords have a cord angle of from 150.degree. to 165.degree. with respect to the tire circumferential direction, are laminated and disposed between the tread and the carcass cord, a pneumatic tire for a passenger car characterized in that the carcass cord layer has a two-layered laminate structure consisting of upper and lower carcass cord layers; the angle of reinforcing cords constituting each of the carcass cord layers with respect to the tire circumferential direction, when measured from the side in which the angle of the reinforcing cords of the belt reinforcing layer on the contact side with the carcass cord layer describes an acute angle with respect to the tire circumferential direction, is such that the mean value 1/2(.alpha..sub.1 +.alpha..sub.2) of the angle .alpha..sub.2 of the reinforcing cords of the carcass cord layer on the contact side with the belt reinforcing layer and the angle .alpha..sub.1 of the reinforcing cords of the carcass cord layer below the former is from 96.degree. to 108.degree. and their difference (.alpha..sub.2 -.alpha..sub.1) is from 10.degree. to 40.degree.; the upper carcass cord layer consists of nylon fibers while the lower carcass cord layer consists of polyester fibers; and both ends of the upper and lower carcass cord layers are turned up around the bead wires, respectively.

    Abstract: A pneumatic tire provided with a tread portion, at least one body ply, and at least two stabilizer plies interposed between the tread and body ply, the radially innermost of the stabilizer plies having reinforcing cords oriented at an angle of approximately 54.degree. to a meridian line of the tire to substantially eliminate ply steer force in the tire. The average angle of the reinforcing cords in all of the stabilizer plies may be made approximately 68.degree. to a meridian line of the tire to provide good cornering stiffness force characteristics in the tire.

    Abstract: Radial ply tires having good vertical flexibility as well as lateral stability even at high speeds are disclosed. The tires are characterized by a sidewall construction in which a radially inward zone in at least one sidewall is reinforced only by the ply structure of the radial carcass itself, and the respective adjacent radially outwardmost sidewall zone contiguous with the tread region of the tire is additionally reinforced by a supplementary ply structure of the carcass extending from the breaker region into the sidewall. In a preferred embodiment, the supplementary ply structure comprises sheet material folded back upon itself, with the folded edge defining the boundary between said sidewall zones. As a refinement of the invention, the respective adjacent radially inwardmost zone of the same sidewall contiguous with the associated bead region is also additionally reinforced by an extended bead turnup section folded back upon itself. The resultant intermediate sidewall zone of limited reinforcement, bounded by the proximate edges of the additional reinforcing plies in the two other zones, is of considerably reduced width with respect to the normal width of a sidewall between the proximate edges of the standard breaker and bead turnup, whereby the tire is somewhat rigidified but retains an optimum degree of flexibility. The sidewall region corresponding to the intermediate zone may also be reduced in thickness.
