Abstract: A flywheel assembly that transmits torque from a crankshaft of an engine is provided. The flywheel assembly has a flywheel with a friction surface and an elastic coupling mechanism. The elastic coupling mechanism elastically couples the flywheel and the crankshaft in a rotating direction, and has a pair of first disk-shaped members axially spaced from each other and fixed together, a second disk-shaped member that is arranged between the pair of first disk-shaped members, and an elastic member that elastically couples the first disk-shaped members to the second disk-shaped member in the rotating direction. Further, a plate-like coupling portion extending between outer peripheries of the paired first disk-shaped members fixes the pair of first disk-shaped members together.

Abstract: Apparatus for damping vibrations between the output element of the engine and the power train in a motor vehicle has flywheels which are rotatable relative to each other. One flywheel is mounted on the output element of the engine and the other flywheel is connectable to the power train by a friction clutch. Vibration dampers are installed between the flywheels, and such dampers are confined in a housing which is provided on the one flywheel and contains a supply of viscous fluid medium for the parts of the dampers. The housing is the input element of the dampers and the output member of the dampers is a flange which extends into the housing and is axially movably coupled to the other flywheel. The flywheels rotate with respect to one another and the dampers contain resilient elements which selectively oppose rotation of the flywheels during various stages of rotation. The resilient elements are also arranged not to oppose rotation of the flywheels during an initial stage.

Abstract: A torsion damper, especially for a motor vehicle, comprises two coaxial parts, namely a primary coaxial part and a secondary coaxial part respectively, which are mounted for relative rotation of one with respect to the other against the action of resilient members acting circumferentially, with each of these resilient members extending lengthwise generally over an arc of a circle. At least one of the circumferential end portions of at least one of the resilient members is associated with deflecting members consisting of camming members, such that in operation, the circumferential end portion of the resilient members is urged radially towards the axis of the assembly, at least when the angular displacement between the two coaxial parts exceeds a predetermined amount.

Abstract: An elastic clutch of disk design is used with a divided flywheel for an internal combustion engine having two clutch halves which are rotatable relative to each other and include several cutouts about their circumference. Helical springs are disposed in a parallel and nested manner and upon mutual rotation of the two clutch halves are operable essentially simultaneously. The elastic clutch elements include a main spring and at least two partial springs which are arranged within the main spring. A one-part or multiple-part guide component disposed between the partial springs centers the partial springs and supports them in relation to the main spring.

Abstract: A damper assembly for a torque converter is provided. The damper assembly includes a first cover plate including a spring retainer at a radial outer end of the first cover plate supporting springs; and a second cover plate including, at a radial outer end thereof, tabs for the springs, the tabs being in circumferential spaces between the springs The spring retainer and the tabs are fixed together inside the spring retainer. A method of forming a damper assembly is also provided. The method includes fixing a spring retainer at a radial outer end of a first cover plate to tabs at a radially outer end of a second cover plate inside the spring retainer. The tabs are in circumferential spaces between springs retained by the spring retainer.
