    摘要: A torque transmitting apparatus which can be used as a friction clutch in the power train between the output element of the engine and the input element of the transmission of a motor vehicle has a pressure plate which cooperates with a counterpressure plate to clamp a clutch disc when the clutch is engaged. The counterpressure plate is the secondary flywheel of a composite flywheel assembly whose primary flywheel is affixed to the output element of the engine. The pressure plate and/or the counterpressure plate and/or the primary flywheel can constitute a stamping or a forging. The counterpressure plate is provided with outwardly extending arms which stress the coil springs of a damper installed in an annular chamber of the primary flywheel and serving to oppose rotation of the primary flywheel and the counterpressure plate relative to each other.

    摘要: An apparatus which can transmit torque between the crankshaft or the camshaft of a combustion engine and the input shaft of a variable-speed transmission in the power train of a motor vehicle employs a damper having a rotary input member normally receiving torque from the engine, an output member rotatable with and relative to the input member and normally transmitting torque to the transmission, and a set of arcuate coil springs which yieldably oppose angular movements of the input and output members relative to each other with a first force which increases in response to increasing angular movements of the input and output members relative to each other and with a second force which is generated by centrifugal force and increases in response to increasing RPM of the engine. At least one additional spring is provided to oppose angular movements of the input and output members relative to each other (particularly when the vehicle is coasting) with a third force which increases in response to increasing angular movement of the input and output members relative to each other but is at least substantially independent of the centrifugal force.

    摘要: A bearing which can be used between two coaxial flywheels has an inner race, an outer race, one or more annuli of antifriction bearing elements between the two races, a metallic or plastic enclosure which surrounds the peripheral surface of the outer race and a portion of the internal surface of the inner race and has a wall extending along first axial ends of the races. The wall has an outwardly bulging pocket for confinement of lubricant in addition to that which is confined in the space between the inner and outer races. Such space is sealed at the second axial ends of the races by a ring which is installed between the two races or surrounds a portion of the peripheral surface of the outer race and sealingly engages the inner race.

    摘要: The metallic portion of a multiple wrap brake band for use in automatic transmissions of motor vehicles is obtained by deforming a circular metallic blank at right angles to its plane into a cup-shaped preform. The bottom wall of the preform is separated from the annular wall and the annular wall is thinned, calibrated, cut, slotted and provided with actuating elements as well as slitted in the circumferential direction to form several neighboring wraps of the multiple wrap brake band. A prefabricated split ring-shaped brake lining is bonded to the internal surface of the annular wall prior to the formation of wraps.

    摘要: A flywheel assembly has a first flywheel which is connectable to the output shaft of an internal combustion engine, and a coaxial second flywheel which is connectable with the input shaft of a variable-speed transmission in response to engagement of a friction clutch. The flywheels are rotatable relative to each other by deforming the coil springs of a first damper which substantially unassistedly offers a relatively small resistance to such rotation during an initial stage of angular movement of at least one flywheel in at least one direction from a neutral position relative to the other flywheel, and thereupon by deforming the coil springs of at least one second damper which offers a greater resistance to a further stage of angular movement of the at least one flywheel from the neutral position. The dampers compensate for fluctuations of torque which is transmitted between the engine and the transmission.

    摘要: A torsional vibration damper has primary and secondary masses rotatable with and relative to each other about a common axis, and a torsionally elastic damper which opposes rotation of the masses relative to each other and operates in series with a torque limiting device. The latter comprises a pair of ring-shaped lateral members flanking a ring-shaped intermediate member which can stress the energy storing elements of the torsionally elastic damper. One of the lateral members is a prestressed diaphragm spring which is riveted to the other lateral member. The maximum torque which can be transmitted by the torque limiting device is greater than the maximum torque which can be transmitted by a friction clutch between the secondary mass and the transmission of a motor vehicle. The primary mass can receive torque from the engine of the vehicle.
