    摘要: An interactive content presenting device and method are provided that allow interactive contents produced on the premise of utilizing the direction indicating function of a remote controller or the like, to perform an interaction by a pointing device, such as a mouse or touch panel, designating coordinates on a screen. The position of an interactive component image on a display device such as a monitor for displaying contents is designated by a pointing device, and the positional relationship with another interactive component image providing a base point is converted into one direction or a combination of directions. Then, this converted combination is converted into a signal corresponding to one from a remote controller by an emulating section that emulates the action of the remote controller, whereby an interaction with interactive contents is performed by the pointing device.

    摘要: Screen (10) for a user interface of a television schedule system and process consists of an array (24) of irregular cells (26), which vary in length, corresponding to different television program lengths of one half hour to one-and-one half hours or more. The array is arranged as three columns (28) of one-half hour in duration, and twelve rows (30) of program listings. Some of the program listings overlap two or more of the columns (28) because of their length. Because of the widely varying length of the cells (26), if a conventional cursor used to select a cell location were to simply step from one cell to another, the result would be abrupt changes in the screen (10) as the cursor moved from a cell (26) of several hours length to an adjacent cell in the same row. An effective way of taming the motion is to assume that behind every array (24) is an underlying array of regularcells. By restricting cursor movements to the regular cells, abrupt screen changes will be avoided. With the cursor (32), the entire cell (26) is 3-D highlighted, using a conventional offset shadow (34). The offset shadow (34) is a black bar that underlines the entire cell and wraps around the right edge of the cell. To tag the underlying positionnullwhich defines where the cursor (32) is and thus, where it will move nextnullportions (36) of the black bar outside the current underlying position are segmented, while the current position is painted solid.

    摘要: A bi-directional communication system comprising a base apparatus and a display apparatus. The display apparatus is a portable liquid crystal display for viewing video programs and browsing the internet. The base apparatus contains a television tuner for receiving broadcast signals and wirelessly transmits programming to the display apparatus. An infrared remote control device connected to the base apparatus is used to control various external input devices (e.g., a VCR or DVD player). Control menus for the base apparatus and the external input device can be displayed on the display apparatus. The display apparatus contains a touch screen, so that a user can select operational commands for controlling the base apparatus and external input devices. The display apparatus wirelessly transmits selected operational commands to the base apparatus, which then retransmits the commands to the appropriate external input device using the infrared remote control device.
