Abstract:
A jewelry tag has a label with a printable side and an adhesive side. An elongated shank extends from the label and is adapted to attach the label to a jewelry article. A substantially clear flap also extends from the label and is configured to laminate at least a portion of the label.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for sealing a split-flange zipper tape in a center fold of a web of bag making film without sealing or tacking the two sides of the split zipper web together.
Abstract:
Methods and systems are described for forming identification cards. The methods and systems incorporate a patch laminate transport for transporting a patch laminate along a patch laminate path and a card transport for transporting a card substrate along a card path. The patch laminate path and card path are substantially perpendicular to each other and intersect at an intersecting junction. A middle portion of the patch laminate is aligned with the intersecting junction. An intersecting edge of the card substrate is driven into the middle portion. A lamination mechanism laminates a first laminate portion to a first face and a second laminate portion to a second face of the card substrate.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to a packaging laminate including a rigidifying core which comprises two rigid outer layers of which one of these two layers consists of a layer of mineral-filled polyolefin, as well as a bulking layer disposed between the above mentioned two rigid outer layers. According to the present invention, the bulking layer consists of a non-woven material. The present invention also relates to a packaging container preferably for liquid foods which is produced by fold forming and sealing of the sheet or web-shaped packaging laminate.
Abstract:
A refastenable absorbent garment includes a first body panel having first and second opposite side edges, a second body panel having first and second opposite side edges and a crotch portion extending between the first and second body panels. At least a first fastener member and a second fastener member are fixedly secured to and extend outboard from the first and second opposite side edges of the first body panel respectively. Each of the first and second fastener members includes a refastenable portion. First and second extension members are fixedly secured to and extend outboard from the first and second opposite side edges of the second body panel respectively. The refastenable portion of the first fastener member releasably engages the first extension member and the refastenable portion of the second fastener member releasably engages the second extension member.
Abstract:
A process for performing a plurality of operations on an elongate element, in particular an envelope (60) in a folder-inserter machine, which operations, such as flapping (44, 47), inserting, moistening and sealing, are carried out at spaced-apart locations. The process enables various different lengths of envelope to be employed, without the need to adjust any of the mechanisms. This is achieved by feeding an envelope into the inserter unflapped and with its crease line trailing. A datum position for the crease line is determined following sensing (96), and all the distances the envelope needs to be moved for the various operations, which may in practice be closely associated with that crease line, measured from that datum position. Irrespective of the lengths of the envelopes processed, the drive means (43) moving them from one particular operation location to the next then needs to be operated for the same time.
Abstract:
A method for positioning side panels during manufacture of a pant includes positioning the side panels within fluid flow devices. The side panels can move parallel or perpendicular to a pant transport plane as the pant is transported in the machine direction and the side panels reside within the fluid flow devices. The side panels can include refastenable fastening components. The method and apparatus can move the fastening components closer together in the cross-machine direction while the side panels reside within the fluid flow devices.
Abstract:
A fabric for use in an architectural covering device includes a plurality of elongated vanes preferably of tubular configuration having a pair of flaps extending longitudinally along the entire length of the vane. A continuous face sheet material has elongated folds at spaced intervals that are secured along the flaps of the vanes so as to pivotally connect the vanes to the face sheet material at predetermined spaced intervals. The fabric is adapted to be supported with an operational system in an architectural opening so that if the vanes are suspended vertically they are slidably movable laterally of the window opening and pivotally movable about vertical longitudinal axes to extend and retract as well as open and close the covering. An apparatus and method for forming the fabric is also disclosed as well as systems for finishing the endmost vanes in the fabric.
Abstract:
A molded plastic panel for covering an exterior building wall includes a laterally directed lead fin, a laterally extending groove below the lead fin, and a rearwardly directed middle wall between rows of simulated shingles, all for joining laterally adjacent panels. A side flange extending outwardly of the panel may also be included. The molded plastic panel preferably also includes at least one row of simulated shingles separated by a plurality of gaps each having a randomly varying width in order to camouflage spacings between adjacent panels that change because of thermal contraction and expansion. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the panel body includes a locking tab and a folding flange. The folding flange includes a locking lip for engaging a locking tab on an adjacent panel and a flexible hinge connecting the locking lip to the panel body. The flexible hinge allows the folding flange to be disconnected from the locking tab when replacing a single panel.
Abstract:
A process and apparatus for making pant-like disposable absorbent garments with single-piece elastic side panels, and garments so made, are provided. The single-piece side panels eliminate the additional cost associated with multi-part side panels, and improve aesthetic appearance of the garments by eliminating side seams. The process and apparatus accomplish the steps of providing a garment chassis having unfinished lateral edges, folding the chassis so that a front portion overlaps a back portion, and folding and bonding the single-piece side panels so that opposing of the side panels are joined to the lateral edges on the garment chassis.
