摘要: An adaptive method and system for monitoring a shipping container for an environmental anomaly uses sensor-based ID nodes within the container and a command node. Sensors on each ID node generate sensor data about an environmental condition proximate the ID node as disposed within the container. Each ID node periodically broadcasts the sensor data. The command node monitors a first group of sensor data from the ID nodes over a first time period to detect an initial environmental threshold condition related to the container, then monitors a subsequent group of sensor data over a second time period under a modified monitoring parameter to detect a secondary environmental threshold condition related to the container as the anomaly. In response to detecting the secondary condition, the command node generates an alert notification and transmits the alert notification to an external transceiver to initiate a mediation response related to the anomaly.

摘要: A nozzle access device is configured to be installed in a structural element and to accept connection by a fire hose nozzle to introduce firefighting fluid into an enclosed space. The device has a housing configured to be inserted in a hole formed in the structural element. The housing has a cylindrical body and a first face with an opening surrounded by an inwardly extending cylindrical socket. The housing has a second face, with an opening, which is attached to the cylindrical body. A movable nozzle connector in the housing has a connection portion configured to receive an inserted fire hose nozzle in a locking connection and a cylindrical nozzle stop portion extending from the connection portion. The nozzle stop portion is movably coupled within an interior of the socket of the first face.

摘要: A Christmas tree fire extinguishing system is provided, wherein an automatically initiated fire extinguishing agent is contained within a housing below the tree and a plurality of smoke and heat sensors communicate to a control unit. The control unit controls the trigger and interprets the sensor signals, while also sending signals to a communications system upon a fire event to notify the homeowner and/or the local fire authorities. In combination with the fire extinguishing agent, the system can monitor the tree and alert property authorities in the event of a fire to prevent home fires and major property damage. Also provided is an audible fire alert for those in the home, wherein a sound generator is energized if smoke or fire is detected to warn those in the immediate vicinity.

摘要: A method for supplying fire suppressing agent to the interior of a container for an extended duration includes detecting sensor signals indicative of a temperature associated with a container, determining via a controller that the fire suppressing agent should be supplied to the interior of the container based at least in part on the sensor signals, and initiating via the controller expulsion of fire suppressing agent from a chamber containing fire suppressing agent. The method may further include puncturing a surface of the container with a puncture mechanism to provide flow communication between the chamber and the interior of the container to permit supply of fire suppressing agent into the interior of the container at a first time, initiating via the controller expulsion of fire suppressing agent from a second chamber containing fire suppressing agent at a second time after the first time, and supplying fire suppressing agent from the second chamber into the interior of the container.

摘要: Embodiments are directed to a fluid-emission device. An example fluid-emission device includes a tubular body, a fluid-source coupler, and a tip member disposed opposite the tubular body from the fluid-source coupler. A fluid-transmission lumen in the tubular body fluidly couples the tip member to the fluid-source coupler. The tip member includes a plate having a plurality of fluid-emission lumens that fluidly couple the fluid-transmission lumen to an environment outside the tubular body. The tip member includes a spearhead disposed opposite the plate from the fluid-transmission lumen. The tip member has a spacer disposed between the plate and the spearhead to separate the spearhead from the fluid-emission lumens. The fluid-emission device can be used by inserting the tip member into material and delivering fluid to a target, such as delivering water or fertilizer to plant roots or the like.

摘要: A firefighting nozzle is provided with a relief valve assembly that opens to discharge a fine spray or “curtain” of liquid extending 360° around the nozzle, thus cooling off the nozzle operator and the surrounding area, while at the same preventing dangerous pressure build-up in the nozzle. In a preferred embodiment, the relief valve assembly comprises a housing having a substantially cylindrical side wall defining a bore. A tubular sleeve divides the bore into two parts: a cylindrical inner passage defining the primary flow path for liquid traveling through the nozzle; and an annular space defining a valve chamber. A plurality of relief ports is formed in a 360° degree pattern around the side wall of housing, each relief port defining a secondary flow path extending substantially perpendicularly to the primary flow path. An annular plug is mounted for sliding movement on the inner sleeve, from a first position blocking the relief ports to a second position allowing flow therethrough. A compression spring or other biasing element is provided for normally urging the plug toward the first position. When liquid entering the nozzle exerts enough pressure on the inlet end of the annular plug to overcome the force of the biasing element, the annular plug moves away from the relief plugs, thereby allowing liquid to escape through the relief ports, simultaneously reducing the pressure inside the nozzle as well as the air temperature outside the nozzle.
