Abstract:
A process for manufacturing formed objects such as fibers, filaments, yarns, films, membranes in form of flat membranes, hose membranes and hollow fiber membranes and the like, involves pressing cellulose solutions in an amine oxide of a tertiary amine and if necessary water, in particular in N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide and water, through a nozzle and precipitating the solutions in a coagulation bath and washing the formed objects obtained. The coagulation bath liquid and the washing water is processed, if necessary, for recovery of the amine oxide of the tertiary amine. Hydrogen peroxide, peroxyethanoic acid, ozone or chlorine dioxide is added to the coagulation bath and/or the washing water. The substances added can preferably be decomposed catalytically or by enzymes prior to the recovery process of the water and the solvent.
Abstract:
Reprocessing mixtures which contain organic solvents and constituents of low volatility and may contain water: includes introducing the mixture into a concentration apparatus of a solvent recovery system, concentrating the mixture in the concentration apparatus by evaporating off a portion of a readily volatile fraction and feeding this readily volatile fraction to a separation column. A portion of the concentrated mixture from the concentration apparatus is conducted away into a separation apparatus where the constituents of low volatility are separated off from the concentrated mixture and ejected from the solvent recovery system. The concentrated mixture is conducted away, freed from the constituents of low volatility, from the separation apparatus.
Abstract:
The invention concerns the esters of hyaluronic acid in which all or only a portion of the carboxylic groups of the acid are esterified, and the salts of the partial esters with metals or with pharmacologically acceptable organic bases. The compounds possess interesting and precious bioplastic and pharmaceutical properties and may be used in innumerable fields, including cosmetics, surgery and medicine. The invention also includes pharmaceutical preparations containing, as an active ingredient, one or more hyaluronic acid esters, or a salt thereof as described above, as well as medicaments containing:1) a pharmacologically active substance or an association of pharmacologically active substances and2) a carrying vehicle containing a total or partial ester of hyaluronic acid. The invention includes also various uses of the hyaluronic esters or of the above mentioned medicaments, such as in medicine, surgery or cosmetics. The invention relates to a new procedure for the preparation of polysaccharide esters containing carboxylic groups, such as in particular the above mentioned hayluronic acid esters

Abstract:
Filamentary vinyl polymer compositions are commonly prepared according to a procedure which includes the following steps:A. polymerizing a vinyl monomer in a concentrated aqueous inorganic salt solution to produce a vinyl polymer solution;B. spinning the resulting vinyl polymer solution through a spinnerette into a coagulating bath containing an aqueous solution of the same inorganic salt as that employed in the polymerization step, the concentration of inorganic salt in the coagulating bath being maintained at a level which affords precipitation of the vinyl polymer to form a coherent filamentary gel;C. washing the vinyl polymer filamentary gel so produced;D. recovering the concentrated aqueous inorganic salt solution from the washing and coagulation steps by concentrating the combined effluents thereof; andE. recycling the recovered concentrated aqueous inorganic salt solution into the polymerizing step.In such a process, undesirable metallic ion and organic molecular impurities accumulate in the recovered concentrated aqueous inorganic salt solution. According to the present invention, which is an improvement in such a process, the recovered aqueous inorganic salt solution is purified prior to the recycling and use thereof by complexing the metallic ion impurities and adsorbing the resulting metal complexes along with organic molecular impurities on activated carbon.
Abstract:
According to an example aspect of the present invention, there is provided A process for the production of a cellulose filaments or films, comprising the steps of dissolving a cellulose substrate in an ionic liquid consisting of the superbase cation 7-methyl-1,5,7-triazabicyclo[4.4.0]dec-5-enium [mTBDH]+ and an anion to produce a solution forming a spinning dope, said anion being derived from an acid which is present at a stoichiometric excess to the superbase, extruding the spinning dope through a spinneret in a coagulation bath containing water to form filaments or films from the solution, withdrawing ionic liquid in an aqueous mixture with water from the coagulation bath, recovering the ionic liquid [mTBDH][OAc] from the aqueous mixture by removing water and optionally recycling the recovered ionic liquid to the dissolution step.
